First photos from the event. First impression, it feels way more solid to sit in than I was expecting. It didn’t give the impression of being cheap at all.
I asked a lot of questions but will mostly narrate the photos I took.
I felt obligated to take the usual picture angles we’ve already seen.
But also kept in mind some of the questions I’ve seen in this forum.
Brought the tape measure. This should help the folks who want to add a stereo. Notice the cigarette lighter plug on the right.
There were also two USB-A ports on the left side.
I didn’t get a picture of it, but I had 5 inches of extra headroom and I am just over 6’1”. The seat was firmer than I would like but seemed well constructed.
The steering wheel slid up/down (not tilt, SLID) and also slid in/out. McKay, the Slate rep said this was a prototype and didn’t think it moved, but the guy after me found the lock tab on the underside of the steering column and moved it in all 4 axes. I jumped back in and tried it myself. Very smooth. Good ergo for most I would imagine.
I hadn’t seen under the sun visor or noticed the rear view mirror.
coach line at front of driver’s door. I had thought this was a panel split bit just an indent for styling and, well, coaching the wrap. McKay admitted this was a hastily applied wrap by a novice but still looked good from a few feet away.
Passenger seat.
Window hinge. No promises on it opening in truck configuration but I encouraged it.
And finally a photo of me in the driver’s seat.
A big thanks to McKay and the other Slate representatives. I’m probably forgetting a lot so feel free to ask questions. Even though this is not a production model, it seemed well put together. I was on my best manners, always asking permission for everything I touched. Not so with everyone, so I got to hear the door and tailgate get slammed shut. Sounded solid.
A few more photos from my bigger camera. Nothing really new though. The rep I was with was very specific about not touching anything, so @Imhotep got more access it seems!
