First photos from the event. First impression, it feels way more solid to sit in than I was expecting. It didn’t give the impression of being cheap at all.

I asked a lot of questions but will mostly narrate the photos I took.

I felt obligated to take the usual picture angles we’ve already seen.

But also kept in mind some of the questions I’ve seen in this forum.

Brought the tape measure. This should help the folks who want to add a stereo. Notice the cigarette lighter plug on the right.

There were also two USB-A ports on the left side.

I didn’t get a picture of it, but I had 5 inches of extra headroom and I am just over 6’1”. The seat was firmer than I would like but seemed well constructed.

The steering wheel slid up/down (not tilt, SLID) and also slid in/out. McKay, the Slate rep said this was a prototype and didn’t think it moved, but the guy after me found the lock tab on the underside of the steering column and moved it in all 4 axes. I jumped back in and tried it myself. Very smooth. Good ergo for most I would imagine.

I hadn’t seen under the sun visor or noticed the rear view mirror.

coach line at front of driver’s door. I had thought this was a panel split bit just an indent for styling and, well, coaching the wrap. McKay admitted this was a hastily applied wrap by a novice but still looked good from a few feet away.

Passenger seat.

Window hinge. No promises on it opening in truck configuration but I encouraged it.

And finally a photo of me in the driver’s seat.

A big thanks to McKay and the other Slate representatives. I’m probably forgetting a lot so feel free to ask questions. Even though this is not a production model, it seemed well put together. I was on my best manners, always asking permission for everything I touched. Not so with everyone, so I got to hear the door and tailgate get slammed shut. Sounded solid.

A few more photos from my bigger camera. Nothing really new though. The rep I was with was very specific about not touching anything, so @Imhotep got more access it seems!

Nice! Couldn't make it out this week, but will go to the Olympia one this weekend. I'm curious of your overall impression of the interior (seats, steering wheel, dash, etc.) Some of the promo stuff they've shown has made it look like the flip up cubby doors on the dash are super flimsy, but I've been hoping that's just a part of early preproduction weirdness

Alot of the internal dash parts look to be 3d printed, so definitely a prototype.

I'm just realizing that it seems that each event is going to have a unique wrap, and that's pretty exciting to see all the different variations as they roll throughout the country. This is the first one that I recall that used a photograph as the base image, and not solid color or pattern/logo.

You were able to get some better outside pics with less people in the way. It had descended into more of a free-for-all by the time I got there. Fun to see the enthusiasm, but you know how some people are. I had a guy get in the passenger seat while I was in the drivers and he proceeded to stomp on the floorboards Saying they seemed flimsy or something. Slate rep patiently explained it was a beta and these floors were not production.

I swear I was polite and asked permission to touch everything and I felt like they were grateful to be shown some respect.

Excellent pics, very excited to see the 12V accessory / cig outlet as that tells us there's 12V power running through the dash. The USB ports are an interesting touch, wonder if that's additional USB for truck connectivity if you aren't using a phone for updates. Or just more charging. The measurement is a great help too, 4'' is the double din height so sounds like it'll be doable.

I like this because it's a good benchmark for what I'll probably be able to do at home.

One of them has the USB symbol and a lightening bolt, the other has just a lightening bolt.
