From Slate.Auto updated ’About us’:

So if you need a great, no hassle, daily driver that you can dial in to your taste and budget, a Slate is worth a look. That said, even with all the ways you can personalize it, a Slate is not for everyone.”

If you need to win drag races or towing contests or want a self-driving spaceship, a Slate is not for you. But even then, it does make a great second car.“

Some powerful words from a startup. Most definitely a reference to Tesla and / or Cybertruck. And don’t rule Tesla out to come up with a low cost offering soon, as other auto makers are now doing. And don’t bet against Elon.

Define low cost, does anyone ever think Tesla would come out with a stripped down tech EV?

also do you think anyone else has a small 2 door on their radar? That what I’m interested in (maybe 4x4)

any other pickup might as well be a Maverick and I’m not interested in that

Honda Fit 2012
I've been telling my kids (10 and 13) how small trucks were when I was growing up, and how big vehicles have gotten. I've gone from Civic Hatchback > Acura Integra > Mitsu' Eclipse > Integra > Integra > Honda Fit. I know the Slate is not for everyone, and we have the options to make it how we want to an extent. I think that's great. Tired of folks who say it'll fail, as we don't have options for something simple. Yes, it may fail, but for what it offers, there's not much in this size on the market outside of older vehicles, ice, etc.

I appreciate how Slate has made the established manufactures even start talking about low cost (relative) and low feature vehicles again.

Average truck prices are now $45k-60k and are 1.5 to 2 feet longer.
Average car prices have crept past $45k.

It's great to have choice in the market, and the Slate Truck is one of the few vehicles I've been interested in for quite some time.

Hoping it'll come out at a decent price, even with the EV rebate likely going away.
