Looks great! I'm curious how much of a mock-up this is vs representative of the final product, particularly around the wheels and lift.

I agree that it looks great, and my guess is that it really is representative of the final product. My question would be: what is the price of a Slate equipped in this manner? Probably not "mid-20s".

I don't see anything there that should take the price up that much. Maybe high 20s with that set of equipment, but I don't think it could be more than a few thousand in accessories.

I'm liking those wheels and tires on it. Any one here ever run the KO2? I'm curious how they perform in different conditions and how they are on the road.

Official Slate truck build with OEM lift kit, side step, roof rack, fender flares, alloy wheels. Love the look!

This with back seat would fit my ridiculous use case…but several other variations would too.

I've driven them on my FIL's Tacoma, and I do generally like them. They are pretty good at everything, and are really the "classic" AT tire at this point. You can see Tire Rack's useful review on them here: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/bfgoodrich-all-terrain-t-a-ko2

The downside I see is that in that size, LT245/75-R17 (31.5" diameter), if I'm reading the sidewall correctly, that is an E load rated tire, and it is almost 50 lbs. It will be hell on range, as well as loud and uncomfortable with those LT sidewalls rattling that tiny truck around. E load rating and LT sidewalls are really intended for much heavier trucks, pulling heavy loads. The temptation is strong to put them on smaller trucks, but people are rarely satisfied with the result.

Something with an S or XL load rating would be a lot more comfortable, and improve range, and there are still plenty of capable options. I switched to Vredestein Pinza AT on my Tacoma and I've been very happy with them. The 235/75-R17 (36lbs, 30.9" diameter) would be a good fit on the Slate. Gets excellent reviews on Tire Rack. Slightly less aggressive for offroad compared to the TA KO2 or KO3, but better all-around.

The Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT would be another good choice. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tire...TR7DRTAT&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

Yeah that's always my first thought is man those look loud and inefficient. But appreciate those other recommendations, that's some great feedback.

It's neat they show the fender flairs on the driver side and not on the passenger.
Good catch!

I damaged a custom wheel on my Mustang convertible once. Couldn't get a replacement because the wheel had been discontinued. 😠

Solution: I bought two similar wheels (similar weight, same width & offset). Now I had different wheels on the right side than the left side.

That was kinda fun! πŸ™‚
Nobody seemed to notice until I pointed it out.

Even the dealer's vehicle inspector didn't notice it when I traded-in the car, and he was a professional at noticing things.

Made lemonade out of that lemon.

The outfitted truck looks pretty sweet! The Slate design lends itself pretty well to both on and off road styles.

A few people on the Rivian forum run the K02. Reports are that range is down 3-4% vs. the standard EV-focused Pirelli AT tires, which are 13% off the "ideal" 21" all season tires. Napkin math says K02s on the Slate would get you about a 15% hit from what the stock Slate combo will get you, or down to around 127 miles on the standard pack and 204 on the extended.

I haven't cared about range for a while, but with so little of it on the Slate, I think I'll opt for a lower street setup.

That sounds about right to me, though the hit may be even more on the Slate because the stock tire is probably lighter proportionally than the stock Rivian tire.

I’m sure people will do it, but I really don’t think anyone wants an LT tire on the Slate. You can’t carry or tow enough weight to justify it, and 2wd won’t be doing aggressive off-roading that needs the massive sidewall protection, so it is just a loss of range and comfort for no benefit.

Beefy looking bed rack! I would hope that it also could be configured to mount at lower levels as well. Would make it easy to reach certain items that you might wish to transport.

That bed rack, or tower rack, has been in the maker on the slate site, looks to be fixed height, shows 1 near rear of bed, or both as options, and they line up with the roof rack.
