No doc fee showing and I can call my local county clerk and get the tax and registration amount and deduct it from my down payment.
Hopefully Doc fee won’t be any more than half of the $300 preorder.

The payment estimator seems rather crude, with 5/7.5/10/12.5/15 % APRs? I hope they'd have better estimates than that. But it comes along with a bunch of updates to the FAQ:

What is a destination charge? And how much is Slate's?
The destination covers transportation, processing and delivery costs associated with getting a vehicle from our Warsaw Factory to its delivery point. The destination charge for every Slate is $1,450, the lowest of all trucks in the US.

How does Slate's destination charge compare to other vehicles?
We believe that trucks should be affordable. That’s why the destination charge for the Slate ($1,450) is the lowest of all trucks in the US. Use our Payment Estimator for a ballpark estimate of what your monthly payment could be.

Can I pick up my Slate at the factory to avoid the destination charge?
Factory pickup is something we’d love to offer down the road but it will not impact the destination charge, which is based on the average cost spread amongst all delivery locations.

Can I finance the destination charge?
Yes, You can bundle it into your loan. Use our Payment Estimator for a ballpark estimate of what your monthly payment could be.
They also touched up a few other things: They changed "Here's a closer look at each of the Slate's body styles" link to "Here's a closer look at each of the Slate Truck's body styles" - I'm guessing someone from legal asked them to please stop referring to them in any way that could be construed as being separate models, because that complicates some kind of regulatory filing. Same thing as the reminder that the $300 pre-order counts towards the final purchase price, I'm guessing the accountants get really angsty about how to track that kind of income.

They also clarified accessory delivery: "How do accessories get installed" previously read "Before delivery: get select accessories installed at the Slate delivery partner." and now adds "All other accessories are shipped directly to your home or a RepairPal location." You can't go to a Carvana facility after your order and hope to pick up a bulky freight item in person; the delivery partner is not warehousing and distributing that stuff. Unfortunate but not unexpected.

Maybe Slate
"You have to understand, explaining the way you would to a normal car buyer isn't working. These are autists, dammit." -- Slate's community relations director to the marketing team, probably.

When I bought my Tesla in NC, I don’t recall a separate doc fee. I believe it’s rolled into their destination fee.
Also, many States have laws capping doc fees (California: $85; NY: $175);and Slate’s home States (Indiana: $250; Michigan: $280).
I’m hoping Slate follows Tesla’s practice.

The next step would be to start getting the state information so they can begin to add that to the total. I suspect that for those of us in the Seattle area (vehicle sales tax rate about 11% and higher annual registration because we are in the RTA zone) that will add about $3700 to the price of the Slate.

Edit to add: If a Washington resident is doing a vehicle trade-in the price paid for the trade will be deducted from the total amount subject to sales tax.

Interesting but I don't like the payment it comes up with if you do zero down at 5% for 72 months 😬 and that's before taxes. Might have to sell a vehicle to get a comfortable payment

Yes, but Tesla charges a $250 order fee which is NOT applied to the vehicle purchase. Thankfully Slate’s deposit is applied to the purchase.

With a $250 Doc Fee, that brings my OTD for a Blank Slate in NC (Wake County) to $27,861.
And $33,011 for a Blank Squareback.
