I believe deliveries will be based on order placement with deposits starting in June. The $50 reservation only allows you to place an order after you put down a deposit. So, be ready to deposit and get in line if you want an early one.

Important to remember customer deliveries does not mean the people in this forum. Slate likely will start with employee (customer) deliveries, then high profile (read: influencers), before selling to general public. If I had to guess, I'd say we will see a 2-3 month latency between the first "customer deliveries" getting announced and the general public receiving the first cars.
When did Slate announce this? I must have missed it.

Slate didn't announce it, but it's the way it goes.

I should have clarified my post was speculation from watching other launch vehicles. Rivian is going through it right now with the R2.

Yeah, Autozone? do some Autozones have repair shops? I know Pep Boys does service, but maybe in that part of the company Autozone is similar?
I checked and Autozone will 'recommend' a local repair shop, which for me here in Roswell was this one, which does not inspire confidence especially when they are primarily a used car lot.

I'm very curious how that's going to work, like how much the deposit will be and how much of it, if any, is refundable if you change your mind. A large or non-refundable deposit will definitely weed out a bunch of people that aren't ready to pull trigger.

My guess will be something like an order fee. Tesla charges a $250, I believe non-refundable, order fee. At that point you are able to set-up financing or leasing terms or agree to pay cash on delivery day.

Yes, I believe Autozone and Pep Boys merged, or partnered, within the past few years. I have a seen the Pep Boys shop near me which had a parts store attached recently change to Autozone colors.
I thought that was advance, but then the branding changed back and the stores went to half the previous size.

On looking it up, looks like they split parts sales into a separate company, Auto Plus, which operated sales under the pep boys brand, which went bankrupt within 2 years. Pep boys now just does auto service.
So the autozone or advance or whatever we saw go in to a previous pep boys building, may have just been whatever company took over that space. They probably put up a wall and separate companies lease the spaces. Pep boys is now just the tire and service bays and office space, completely separate.

I hope that's not going to be the case, seeing as they are all identical off the line. I do remember when people were still waiting on their Cybertruck reservations while Shaq was having his second one delivered.
