If that price holds, fingers crossed it’s for extended range 240 miles. Otherwise slate going to have a difficult time competing with ford maverick hybrid which comes with 4 doors, paint, locks, power windows, and entertainment center for $28k. My estimate for built out Slate SUV and wrap is $33k for extended range which still only has 2 doors limiting functionality.

If Slate offers 240 miles at $25k, then SUV could be <$30k which is reasonable premium for EV and modularity. That I could get extremely excited about. Especially if state rebates pull that down further. Then market disruption is possible.

but if buyers have to spend $5k premium compared to Maverick hybrid just for 2 door, crank window, BYO stereo …. Slate may remain in niche space.

bring on the extended range battery please!!! :)
The Maverick will be closer to 40k

I'd be optimistic that the 135 kW drive unit is at least bolt-in compatible with an aftermarket 150kW drive unit.
I also wouldn't rule out the possibility that it simply IS the 150kw drive unit, just being run below the 350V rating threshold by the standard battery... And that the long range battery may get full rated power.

And will have four doors (which I neither need nor want), smaller bed (limiting functionality), and a larger footprint (which sucks in the city and my garage).

Why does everything have to have four doors? What's next... crew-cab cargo vans? Ambulances?

I think you've got it.

One thing you have to consider is the dealer fees and their other upcharges, many times can be $1,000 or more. One of our local Ford dealers tacks on a $900 fee for documents and another $250 for Dealer prep. Then you get the dreaded AMV stickers. Kind of a ripoff.
Not sure if Slate will add anything on but I hope not.

Wow, you guys sure been busy since I went to bed. Surprised the web announcement vanished, but likely a great ploy for discussion. Wonder what other tidbits over next few days.

i was tempted to add a survey:
24950 - Winner
24950- Whiner

but thought some might take offense LOL

I predicted 24,995 base and 28,495 extended-range in another thread. If my extended price holds true, I'm in.

I ASSume the 24,950 we saw breifly is the base?
Same thoughts for me, Sir.
