I'll get interested in these next year. I'd say that 6000TL would more than fill the bill for this use case!

For normal size residential garage a quickjack is a better option. Much less expensive and completely usable, whereas a lift like I have is somewhat wasted because you can only go so high in a 10-ft tall garage.
Don't they have a version you can leave in place and just drive over also?

I need something that will go about 24" high for most of my projects....I've got decent overhead room.

If you at least 14' and 6-8k these 4 posts are like a quickjack+. If however, you have much less headroom you will be lifting a car about waist high and a full size truck or SUV barely at all.
But you could store it in the garage and roll it outside when you need to lift higher. Kind of a pain to do all that though.

On the jacks front, I have a Quickjack 6000TL, which is able to lift my MachE, Prius and Tacoma. Hopefully it will work on the Slate as well, though I suspect it will given the wheelbase.

It is very portable, slides under my workbench when I'm not using it, and the 24" of rise is great compared to traditional jack stands that either don't get that high, or are very scary when that high.

I've got the previous model 5000, which is, as you might guess, a 1000# less capacity. Also the lift height was slightly lower for the first gen models: 21" without blocks. I have blocks that get it up to 24". Otherwise the same size / length as the 6000. I've got the Corvair up on it right now, which is like a toy for the 5000 to lift.

5 to 10 pounds per tire. That is the average weight the run flats are over conventional tires.

I agree, that's a lot.
Unsprung mass is important to consider.
Rotational mass too. The extra weight is far from center.

OTOH, that's comparing the same tire as run-flat or not. I'm not doing that.

I'm searching for run-flats and wheels as a combo and judging their weight compared to the stock tire+wheel combo. (The weight of the stock combo isn't known, but can be guesstimated.)

I'm virtually certain I can put alloy rims with run-flat tires on the Slate that are lighter than the stock wheel+tire combo, and do so at a reasonable price.

My option is a ittle pricy, but what fun! I try to do it all myself, it's a challenge!

I *HAVE* to do it all myself - it’s my survival instinct due to having my vehicles damaged in one way or another since forever. I can’t trust any wrench monkey to put a finger on anything I own. So I fix everything. One of my registration tags is personalized with “MRFIXXR” 😄

I try not to ever let a shop touch my lug nuts. If I need a wheel balanced or a tire repaired I carry it in. I buy tires from TireRack and have them delivered to the the tire shop and bring the wheels in. I have AC equipment and wheel alignment equipment. These pay for themselves with one use.

Whereas I get your instinct, if it becomes debilitating, there are meds and counseling for this condition- (you can decide whether buying a second blank parts truck is more/less expensive)!
