Didn't really pay until to the use for the bed side notches until seeing someone point this out online. These notches will be perfect for laying crossbars / 4x4 across to make a scaffold above the wheel arches. Perfect for plywood, mattress, anything wide and flat.

I don't see it, but it'd be nice if the tailgate's drop could be adjusted. This would let you level the edge of the tailgate with the top of those notches, allowing for more rearward support of sheet goods. The Maverick has this feature which is key since the space between the wheel wells is less than 4 feet.

Jeep Gladiator also has something like that.
The tailgate can be trapped level with two 2X4s fitted on edge into slots in the bed for a bed divider which is also level with one horizontal 2X4 fitted onto pockets on top of the inner fenders thus allowing a deck to be created and 4X8 sheets or other long material to be carried.

The bed divider 2X4s are very handy for keeping material from sliding all over the place and within reach of the tailgate.

Mission critical items like cases of beer.

I use those notches on my S10. I have chains holding up my tailgate so that I can raise it enough to help support the load.

Personally, I'd love a passenger side pass through from the bed for long loads. Now that I think of it, I wish Slate offered a build with the passenger seat removed for a cost reduction. I mean, only what you need, right? Isn't that the Slate mantra? Why isn't the passenger seat an accessory?

It wouldn't be realistic to make the Blank Slate a 1 seater and have the passenger seat an add on. 99% would want the passenger seat, and it would cost more to package up and send than to just have it installed on every truck.

When I had a Toyota minivan,
I once removed the
right front passenger seat
to carry some 110 pine siding.
It wasn't that big of a deal.

1 seater = max storage, lol
But 4 bolts will get you there.

Come on Slate, give us a Slate version of the Kenworth CBE single cabs! Jokes aside I still feel like a single split bench seat w/ center arm rest cupholder would have been the cheaper route. We'll see if it just takes four bolts and an airbag sensor cable to liberate the passenger seat from the truck.

Edit: I hope the seats are identical. Get a worn out driver's seat? Just swap in a passenger one from another totalled Slate!
