Bed Toolbox - Tricked Out Custom Concept

I think it's more of a mobile workbench setup than a toolbox. Yeah, only half done, and poorly placed. Some rework to secure stuff better and setting it up to slide to the tailgate and it might be worth having.

Also I love idea but god is that a ugly tool box XD I’d go with the more traditional tool box personally I wonder if you get a generator and yeh gas-bed-toolbox you know the refillers would it just be a gas truck with extra steps XD I can’t wait to get my slate honestly and trick it out I’ll keep that project on the back burner though could be a interesting experiment like say you get the 100 gallon ones just how far could you go obviously stoping to charge but I am curious how long that file would last

Interesting idea but dear gods would I not want that in my truck. Obviously built to 'look cool' but not functional for squat. Like a Slate truck version of a car from 2F2F.

That's 100% a toolbox for people that don't use tools. How do you even close it without everything falling off the shelves?

This stuff is honestly just confirming my decision to cancel my slate preorder was correct. It genuinely seems like this company does not understand "truck" or "truck user"

The entire premise of the truck being basic, modular etc (which i love) clashes with the "older millenial who buys $30 burgers" vibe of the marketing. As ive said before here, the marketing makes no sense. Youre showing a basic crank window no frills primer gray pickup off at coffee shops and art shows and stuff, in the hearts of major cities. Why? WHY? It makes 0 sense especially when the slate is, again as ive said before, absolutely perfect for fleet sales. Yet ive seen 0 about that. Zero marketing for actual work. 0 marketing as a shop truck. As a parts hauler. Not A SINGLE picture of this truck anywhere near a farm, factory, or even an outbuilding as far as I know.

My muscle car of choice that ive had for 15 years now is a 66 Ranchero. Low slung, V8, RWD, muscle car oriented Coupe utility with a 6 foot bed. You know what the makreting for that was? Hauling hay. Campers. Motorcycles. Farms. Etc.

It strikes me as either slate's marketing team is incredibly out of touch and is catering to the non existent "modern audience" that weve seen cause issues in other media, or Slate themselves is not actually confident in this things ability as a truck, and they want the marketing to reflect that

These content creator designs are meant to get more eyes on the truck, no one's seriously expecting people to carpet the steering wheel or use that "concept" toolbox.
It's also not meant to be a "hauling" truck. Of course that kind of application is going to need either gas, diesel, or a more expensive EV truck with a larger battery and powertrain.
This is more of a city/suburban utility truck. No they are not marketing to fleets strongly yet, because they don't really need to. They have plenty of interest from consumers to soak up the planned production capacity, once fleet buyers can see the truck out on the roads, that is when they will get interest. But then it still won't be big fleets. Amazon, Walmart etc. are using larger capacity dedicated cargo EVs. USPS has contracted custom built trucks, with a supposed lower per unit cost.
The big market in business is going to be small businesses and franchises, that are only moving small loads and only locally. Florists, painters, plumbers, auto parts chains, etc., and those will be hard to market to beyond the build and wrap examples that have been shown, until there is a live truck they can buy and get in a relatively short time, they won't be looking to commit to buying a truck they can't order for another year minimum.

Cancelling your reservation is up to you, but to me it means you gave up your place in line. Maybe if I really needed that $50 back now and couldn't wait until closer to launch, sure, but it's not like you can get that place in line back. If the truck turns out to be great, and everyone wants one, and most convert, they probably have enough reservations already to take several years at full production to fill. If it doesn't, I can always cancel later.
