Curious to see how this pans out. Cybertruck so far has been the sales flop of this century. "How low can it go?". We need some island music to go along with this story. Maybe a second question: "How long can it last?".

Fair disclosure. I think the Cybertruck is kind of cool. Not actually ugly when you see it in person. And daring tech inside and out. But it is a solution looking for a need.

One thing about Elon. Love him or hate him. He pivots on a dime. He generally doesn't throw good money after bad. If he deep-sixed the Model S and Model X (Tesla's flagships), I see nothing keeping him from doing the same to a Cybertruck money pit.

Nothing like social media stunts to add confidence to consumers shelling out $60K - $119K for a giant squashed tuna can without a really great use case, other than to be large and really different.

I agree with others who said a Model Y-based small truck would actually be a Maverick (and Slate) competitor.

LMAO, hard disagree there. To me it is even uglier in person than in pictures or videos.
In pictures they can at least pick from the five specific angles it looks 'ok' from. In person you're forced to see it from ALL of the other angles that it's clumsy, awkward, and ungainly from. Seen from directly in front or behind it looks downright frumpy. Then add in how wavy the large 'flat' sheet metal surfaces (inherently) are, especially when viewed from steep angles, and it just looks cheaply built too. Overall, it's a mildly interesting concept poorly executed... And that's before even getting into the non-purposeful 'function follows form' philosophy requiring excessive engineering solutions to design problems.

The "ten days only" quote is just typically weird Elon. If you are clearing the vehicles before you stop production, you just lower the price. Saying you're just doing it for ten days - bizarre.
