I have never had a NEED for power windows but there are a few instances where power windows are convenient. My old Tacoma has crank windows and I get by with them just fine but I will consider the Slate power window upgrade, depending on price and diy maintenance.
A couple of comments on the power window option worth mentioning:

1- At one point Slate mentioned passenger window switch / motor can be ordered without the driver’s side. Or the other way around. You don’t need to order a “set.”

2- The passenger window crank is probably “reachable” from the driver’s seat considering the width of the truck. Once I get to see one on person I will attempt this.

3- In an interview (forget which one) it was stated that Slate may not have the power window option at launch. It actually might be delayed.

4- Actually, Slate’s design team preference is the crank window, as they feel it best fits the style of the truck. (From another interview). They are offering power windows due to popular demand.

I'll bet the bolt pattern is 5x4.5
I'm not basing that on anything other how common it is and that it's close to the measurements people are estimating.

Although the hand-crank windows base feature is what got my attention regarding Slate's simplicity, upon reflection I think I may actually want power windows. It depends on how the switches are configured. You see I'm becoming old & infirm & would rather not lean across to the manual crank on the passenger side to get extra ventilation on hot summer days. I can't tell from any images or descriptions I've seen. Does the kit include 2 switches on the driver's side?
Interesting, a LOT of responses below indicate that folk expect them to be installed or wired at the factory, if they are added as an option.

Now hear this!
Slate have said, many times "There will only be one SKU"
Very, very forcibly.

So no, you will NOT be able to get a Slate, without the wiring for power windows
The kit will be something you install yourself, afterwards, a motor in each door, 2 switches on the drivers side you plug in, one on the passenger side.

You'll have to take off the interior door panel to do this.

Note the operative word here: "YOU", not Slate.
Not difficult, hand tools only, but not Slate.

This is correct, Slate's thing from the start has been "we're making Blank Slates off the line and not planning to offer them as trim-like pre-installed bundles".

It sounds like you could also get it installed at a shop; but that seems mostly for if you're really not comfortable with it, you have more money than time, or maybe you're having other, more difficult things installed anyways.

Insert obligatory joke at the expense of Tesla's version of "you need to take off the interior door panel".

Since the announcement last week stated that a power window kit is not available, this is all moot.

Will it be available in the future? Does the single SKU include power to the doors for a possible future power window kit?

My original post did not presume a separate model SKU for a power window option; I was simply wondering if the supposed power window kit included in the build configurator included a switch on the driver side for the passenger side window. Note that I used the word "kit" rather than "option".

They specifically say in the FAQ:

> You can choose to have the SUV kit installed prior to delivery or purchase the kit later on. If you choose to purchase it after delivery, it can easily be installed by your local Slate service provider or at home following our video tutorial.

and

> You can choose how and where your accessories get installed:
  • DIY: easily install accessories at home with Slate University, our library of video tutorials and helpful how-to content.
  • Before delivery: get select accessories installed at the Slate delivery partner.
  • At a service partner: buy accessories after delivery and get them installed at your local Slate service location.
I'm not sure which accessories are "select", I read that to mean that the SUV kit/fastback kit is at least among of them. I'd wager it also includes a handful of other major items, like bumpers, wheels/tires, and suspension lifts/lowering kits. I'd also guess that window cranks are not among those select items.

IMO, you should be awarded credit back for returned stock parts if you get accessories installed prior to delivery. Otherwise they're going to have a ton of wasted 17" steelies and base-model bumpers and so on. It's still a little wasteful to receive a Slate with a window crank handle you never intend to use, but not nearly as bad as a whole bumper or something like that.

Also noticed for the first time that it says "installed at *THE* Slate delivery partner" not "installed at *A* Slate delivery partner." Another indicator of a Carvana/SilverRock partnership? That makes me believe it's not just a freight provider but some company that has automotive service centers. I know RepairPal service shops can install accessories after the fact, but they don't have a delivery network. If Carvana/SilverRock can also do repairs, that would be a huge expansion of the Slate repair network!
OOH! really good catch, the "A ... partner" replaced by "The ... partner".
That one zipped right past me!
But as I said, its not Slate, its someone else.
Bigger question, if you pick fancy wheels, what happens to the original tires?

Changing tires from one wheel to another is NOT a typical DIY, needs whopping great tools and fancy balancing machines. (Tho I have managed it by myself on a lot of my Ag machinery)

Me? I'm playing wait-and-see, ha

Exactly my original point: if it's a button on the driver side, then yes. If it's a button or crank on the passenger side, then park it first. Unless you're my age & physical condition: then park it & walk around to the passenger side.

Nine of the first ten cars I owned had hand-cranks. The Jeep I owned in the middle of that group had hand-zippers. I dealt with it just fine then; I'm not so spry anymore.

Don’t mind the hand cranks until
I want some open window cross-ventilation in the cab. Would be nice to not lean over the center console to manually wind the pax side when needed.
What would be sick is the rear glass is power retractable! 🤤

Yes, I hear you
No power window option means I'll wait, a year.
Maybe longer, we will see.

By then Ford, Telo and a BUNCH of other folk will be in the game

By 2030 the chinese will be in the game.
Waiting is starting to look like the best option,
been waiting for years, whats a couple more?

My memory of my Saturn SL2 (retired in 2005) was this.

1) Hot to start, crack the passenger side by reaching over.
2) Modulate the flow on driver's side.
3) At a stop light, close the passenger side if it is too much. Or open more if not enough.
4) If you are going on a freeway, use the A/C.

For power side windows, if/when they decide to offer them, I'm in favor of just using the center mounted accessory switch set to run them. That way it only needs 2 switches rather than the 3 door mounted switches would require.

For opening the rear window, I'm in favor of just using the SUV rear window hinges on the pickup cab combined with an old-school 'pop up' sunroof latch that allows the lower edge to open a couple of inches. Presumably the glass will need provisions for some kind of latch to lock it closed on the SUV anyways.

Agree. I may be dead by 2030. I may be dead in the next 10 months waiting for my pre-order. It is a different perspective when you get older.

Also, I'm thinking no matter how Congress or the President races flow over the next few years, there will be push back on this matter. There has been in the past. I could be wrong, because if we go to completely collective society, we may welcome our Asian brothers and sisters with open arms with zero tariff barriers.

Right on! I dont have many more years anyway, so? drive what you like.

BUT, if you can't buy it, you can't drive it
So who will give me the first test drive? This is a questionaare:
1) Apters (my favorite thing to have, but not confident I'll ever get one)
2) Telo, the thingI really need
3) Slate, the one I can afford
4) Ford, the one that will probably be the first test drive

Made my mind up, I shall wait until Xmas 2027, then decide.
Santa? can you fit an Aptera into a stocking?
