Posting a link to NPR/WBUR’s Here and Now story/interview with Slate CEO Peter Faricy from today’s episode.

https://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/2026/07/21/slate-auto-electric-trucks
Appreciate this! Is there a version of this interview with a transcript? I think NPR's podcasts have transcripts on the main site at least, but it's not up there. Maybe it'll show up in a bit?

Seven cranks on the window. Finally some important data.
I thought The Autopian counted six.

The plastic handles feel OK for a modern car; not overly flimsy compared to newer cranks, reasonably grippy, and an OK size. But the bigger issue is the number of cranks required to raise or lower the windows: six.
Damn, Peter Faricy really is just a suit who knows nothing about his own truck. 😔 /j (this time)

Looks like Host Scott Tong was one of few who actually got to DRIVE the SLATE truck at the JUNE 24 Reveal
Interesting bits from FARICY (first 6 min of brief 8 min show)
“Test drives sometime this Fall”
Cites IN AND OUT BURGER as original inspiration for SLATES Customization idea. 💡 🍔
as many interviews with Slate have called:
“UNIQUE in the AUTO industry”

Apparently, interview was done more recently with Faricy at the Troy, MI office (noisy background).
I'd never seen that IN and OUT BURGER quote about their "original inspiration" for CUSTOMIZATION :)

So let me get this straight. The takeaway from this podcast is; Visiting an In-N-Out Burger will require 7 cranks at the drive thru window. 😁
Unless you’re like me and you drive with your windows down 100% of the time!😁

Maybe that's why In-N-Out Burger hasn't expanded to Louisiana yet. Too much time would be wasted opening and closing windows, trashing the maximum drive-through rate and wrecking the business case.

(It's not that bad here, really. I mean, sure, yesterday was a bit muggy, what with the dewpoint hitting 80°F and all, but it wasn't that hot.)
