Nothing Fun
I think the thing that makes the most sense is a full sized 4 door pickup, convertible to a SUV like the current. Same thing, just blown up. Better battery range (300+ mi), AWD/4x4, etc. Unfortunately the current market is getting very competitive for that. I think Slate will struggle to compete, and their weaknesses will be exposed. $35k for a bare bones model, or 45k for a equinox, R2, etc.

Respectfullu gonna disagree with the 4 door suggestion. Don’t be just another in the bunch, but concentrate resources into making Slate the benchmark 2 door. That said, maybe if with extended bed the SUV incorporates a sliding door on side, like vans, but remain true to the basic model. Could even add 3rd row

If the original Slate truck is a success and they can afford to develop a second model, I hope whatever it may be is something innovative that addresses a gap in the market the way Slate truck hopes to.

They need to pull a model T, reduce the price over time to make it really affordable to the masses.

Crazy answer: take the slate, lower it, shrink the wheelbase, put a trunk on it, and give us a Suzuki X-90 equivalent: 😈

Realistically I think they'd probably do the opposite, lengthen it and add two more doors or do a long wheelbase cargo van with a slider door.

I too think that Slate should focus on the task at hand. But like any product company, thinking about the next product is always part of the DNA. I hope it’s a cab forward mini-van/truck like the VW T4. Keep the kit of parts approach and make the base version an electric Doka…basically a longer bed (flatbed skateboard) version of model 1. Two-motor AWD option (Syncro). No infotainment, low-tech. I would turn it into a killer camper van.
This is kinda what I’m thinking, but with a flat, longer bed. Meet the Subaru Sambar. If you need it to be a pickup, add that kit. If you want a mini van, add that kit.

I could see something like this, but current front look, being Blank Slate 2.0

Something similar to the 2004-2006 (first generation) Scion xB.

Four doors. Roomy inside (really!). Loved by owners.
As a current owner of a sweet Scion xB (first generation), I'm keeping my eye on the Slate (cargo or SUV) as its eventual replacement.
