Ford will be road testing their camouflaged BEV truck right around the time Slate orders are taken. Ford execs were quoted saying "we're already testing them out in the world now, and you'll start seeing spy shots soon". And other execs were strongly suggesting that Ford will formally reveal the truck at the 12 January Detroit Auto Show.

Anyone not in a manic rush to buy a Slate - it probably makes a lot of sense to chill, see what else might be hitting the road in 2027, and tune in to all the adventurous early buyers here as they share their experience with us cautious types. Guys wearing "Slate" hats and teeshirts and drinking coffee from a "Slate" mug - maybe not so much.

Gonna fly from home in NYC to L.A. to get my order in 3 hour earlier.

I don't know why that didn't occur to me before bleaching my hair this morning.
This doesn't make sense - you have your forum Location set to Arizona.

So some quick math based on Wikipedia specs and Google searches. If batteries cost $140 per kWh, and the base model has 53kWh and the extended battery has 85kWh, that's about $4500 dollars difference.

So if the base model was 24,000, that would put the extended range option at $28,500 <-- and bet that's what most people want. Not me, but I digress

That seems a very reasonable "mid 20s" guestimate.

I have dibs on $24k for the base, $27k for the extended battery. Which puts both in the "mid-20s" they have been touting.
This has been my thinking. I’m optimistic that we’ll get 23,500-24,000 for the base model and 27,000-28,000 for the larger battery. We’re a skewed sample on this site but the vast majority of the users here have indicated that they want a larger battery. If the larger battery is 29,000-30,000 before any destination or registration fees, they’re going to lose a lot of conversion because it’ll hardly be competitive in price.

I'm with Bobby, I think that just the added watts in the extended-range battery are going to be closer to $5000 than $3000. I don't love it, but I think that's the truth.

I do wish I could afford the larger battery, but I don't really need it.

In the “Quick Update On Price” video, Chris says “We’ve been working tirelessly to get the lowest price possible.” And then later confirms the blank Slate will be in the mid 20s.

Given the loss of the federal EV tax incentive, and that the batteries they chose are made in the USA in order to have qualified for the incentive, I think there’s a very real possibility that their supplier will have been willing to negotiate on price in order to move units. Canceling the federal incentive is bound to have caused orders to slow and contracts to be broken by other brands, and may have given Slate some negotiating power.

Why the 24th?

$24,000 base model. Right? That's what I'm going with.
Yes! Let’s keep it going. And we have until July 24 to place the preorder and lock in the delivery window. I’m a believer in Numerology:

“the belief that numbers have a mystical or divine significance and can reveal the future.”

Even if Ford reveals in January, they probably don't even plan to ship until 4Q 2027, assuming they don't run into any delays. They Have just recently had an aluminum supplier issue, then a broken stamping machine that affected production.

Ford is guiding summer 2027 deliveries, and has been very consistent about that. FWIW, I think the Slate showed that the reveal date is almost more important than the delivery date. Because so many people on this forum made up their minds instantly at the Slate reveal. Shows the power of a good "product reveal".
