Or NYC! (could be a thread all it's own.)Oh oh! ATL for Gold!
Just for the record, metroshot's experience with regenerative braking is not everyone's experience.

Test drive will demonstrate this in 5 minutes. Along with ride quality over bumpy roads, cornering, wind noise, etc. Put me in the “test drive is necessary” camp.Or NYC! (could be a thread all it's own.)

I've driven 3PDs (I'm assuming that's a manual) and most of the time I only used one of the 3 to slow down, as in engine braking. Only time I use the clutch is to change gears or panic brake. And then there are others who have driven over 40 years using 2PD and 3PD which makes muscle memory difficult to adapt to 1PD.
100% agree!Test drive will demonstrate this in 5 minutes. Along with ride quality over bumpy roads, cornering, wind noise, etc. Put me in the “test drive is necessary” camp.
Might be on another thread, but what is likelihood that a battery exchange could happen in the future— going from standard battery to much more efficient battery? That would be a win for longevity.Yes, I'll need a test drive to check noise level and ride quality. I'll also need to browse accessories, door pockets, center console, phone holder, speaker options etc. I'm also on the fence about ER battery. That will depend on price.
Upgrading batteries after purchase - would be costly - compared to ordering one from the factory.Might be on another thread, but what is likelihood that a battery exchange could happen in the future— going from standard battery to much more efficient battery? That would be a win for longevity.
Agree 100%. I would get biggest battery available.Upgrading batteries after purchase - would be costly - compared to ordering one from the factory.
You should look at what your driving pattern will be along with charging infrastructure as well as charge at home options.
I have a standard range BEV (230 mile range) and it's perfect for my 5 day workweek commute.
On weekends I charge on my 240V 48A J1772 charger and it's good to go.
On road trips, I would have to stop around 150-180 miles due to the high speed travel and lower efficiency to recharge at Tesla Superchargers to get back on the road.
For my Slate, I will order the extended range from the start as I am used to the 230 mile range of my current BEV.
My wife could not adapt to 1PD on my Lightning, whereas I loved it.I've owned a Lightning and a Mach-E and I've been active on forums for both. The topic of 1PD vs 2PD is always very polarizing. I'll just say this; There's no one correct answer. It's 100% a personal preference. Every person will have a different experience depending on the vehicle and their individual driving conditions.
For example: My wife and I preferred 1PD in the Mach-E that we both drove. Two years later I bought the Lightning and we started out using 1PD. But since they're very different vehicles in form, function, and feel, we both gravitated to 2PD in the Lightning. For us and our driving conditions, we simply preferred 1PD for one vehicle, and 2PD for a different one.
So it will be interesting to actually test drive the Slate. I doubt the 1PD non-adjustable regen will be a deal killer for me, but understand why it could be for some.
Incredible! Jay Leno BARFS in the Slate Truck! Can it compete with the other EV BARF MOBILES?? Or is it too little too late?!?Did anyone see Jay Leno get nauseated driving the Slate truck? I don't recall any negative reaction in the video.
For what it's worth.
I don’t think it’s really about “adapting.” Some people just prefer a different driving feel. My experience with both the Mach-E and Lightning taught me that 1PD is a style choice, not a skill test. Comfort and confidence matter more than forcing yourself into a mode you don’t enjoy. My wife could not adapt to 1PD on my Lightning, whereas I loved it.
