That Yakima would create some serious drag...I usually think of those for long range trips, which could not seem to be the ideal use case for Slate ("fast charging capabilities, notwithstanding)...but, I get that they are putting out snippets to stay in front of folks.

The sled should be mounted upside-down.

Looks like they're working with Yakima? Maybe the Slate truck (blank Slate or with SUV or Cargo kit) will be included in their list of makes/models, to see if a particular rack/accessory will fit your vehicle. If so, that's great news! Hope they'll be talking to Thule and Malone as well. (I've got my eye on some Malone crossbars and a kayak cradle.)

And maybe this means that they're closer to determining the actual dynamic roof load too, which I am very interested in knowing.

I wonder what what is the level of “wind noise” we can expect with the bare rack? Also, how easy is it to install & remove?

However, I hope the Slate gives doggie passangers something better than the Grizwald roadrunner option.
Yeah I'm also curious what people recommend for a dog passenger in the truck configuration. Doggie seat belt?

I’m hoping for the SUV top without seat and rollbar, midgate in place, and some sort of upper, grid type barrier, either tube or netlike.

It feels like Slate are falling into the same marketing trap that Ford did--Trying to position the Lightning as simply another variation of the F150 that can do everything the ICE version could do, but better. Bad strategy.

I get that some people are going to want/need a roof rack on the Slate Truck. But promoting a Yakima carrier? Nope. You're sending the wrong message just like Ford did. This truck will never be that.

Kind of depends on size and number of dogs and your risk tolerance. Our dogs ride in crash-tested crates that'll be strapped down in the bed. I'm hoping Slate lets me order either the SUV kit without seats or the cargo kit with windows. Otherwise I'll want to make sure I can get an appropriate camper top from a third party like Leer before ordering the truck.

Would like to see a link to these carriers, as usually I just have dogs in SUV, but I’m susceptible to evidence of better…
