This Slate SUV is on display at Atrium in Old Sacrament (posted by @phatboy7). First time I've seen the SUV kit top's rear window open with struts.

Still hopeful that Top without seats and rollbar will be available.
I would think it would. Considering they plan a cargo version that would be what you want with the windows blacked out or just having opaque panels in their place, and they try to reuse parts wherever possible.
Looking at the photos posted today, it looks like the rollbar seen here may be the frame of the rear of the fastback.

Any insight on how the window locks? Captured by the (locking) tailgate?

I don’t recall seeing a handle on the rear window. It looks like the tailgate locks the glass in place and you’d have to open the tailgate a little to get the rear window to open. Since it was a prototype it’s hard to say what the final design will be.

Interesting method of locking those rear windows in place

Since the squareback's rear glass is the same component, it stands to reason that the basic single cab truck configuration would also allow you to open the glass this way. I hope so anyway. I guess it depends on how the window is latched closed.

...I thought there was a video (possible Rich Rebuilds') where someone at Slate mentioned the back of the cap was what became the back of the SUV kit. When you look at the 3D concept in the builder, the blank Slate appears to have the hinges on the outside of the glass. The interior cab view looking back doesn't show any sort of latch to open from inside, though.

Dunno that I've ever seen an SUV where the whole cab glass tilts open like that. Could be fun!

Oh definitely. Slate's mentioned it a bunch that the rear window panel just slides back during the conversion from pickup to SUV. I just don't think we've seen it open before with the gas struts underneath. This was my first time seeing it, anyway.

Slate even posted a video a while back of them loading picnic gear in the SUV with the tailgate down but the top glass panel awkwardly closed still. It looked really "sus" as the kids would say.

My concern is that the window won't be openable in truck mode if it's blocked or secured by the lower bulkhead of the bed. If it's clear to swing open, then it would need some sort of security latch in the cab.

This.

The bottom of the window appears to be below the top of the partition, at least in pictures we've seen so far

Ability to open (or tilt-out, or easily remove) the rear window would be a great feature.

I've been looking for a latch for the rear window for a while - I'm 99% sure that at this point the Slate has NO LATCH to secure/lock the rear window while on the square SUV. I thought I saw this on a pic from the Sacramento event, but I can't find the pic. There are a number of pics that show the window (in SUV mode) open, hinging on the top, with gas shocks supporting the opened window.

It's been stated a couple of times that in what we are seeing, the rear window wasn't finalized.
