If Slate is manufacturing own seats, I sincerely hope they explore building a small, middle, filler seat with fold down back that converts to a console.
Great idea, but no airbag for middle passenger might be a non starter.

It is not currently a problem in other car lines. Why would it be here?
front airbags normally cover the entire dash area and rear seats rarely have anything other than side airbags,

The law requires all passengers have a restraint system such as seat belts. So at a minimum Slate would need to add belts for the middle jump seat. Regarding air bags, you are correct. Not currently required by law.

Seems attachment points would be same as currently planned except if over the shoulder loop is required.

I thought air bags are integrated into rear roll bars?

You are correct, but the discussion was concerning the ‘front middle passenger’ if a bench seat was available In the front row.
ah! Yeah, they’re compromised.

Ford, for their 2017 and up fleet trucks, have a center console, seat, seatbelt, all-in-one unit that bolts in the middle. Slate could probably mimick something like that.

My 1999 F150 Work Series (i.e. below an XL) had a bench seat. It had no specific airbag device for the middle passenger. The right side airbag covered both positions: right side passenger and middle passenger.

Common Guys. We all know that's not correct at all. There's no law in the USA mandating A/C in vehicles.
Really interesting just looked it up and yah there isn’t but there are regulations relating to them some from osha that would indirectly require it my bad I just assumed since all cars have them but also makes since that one with ac/heating vs one with out would sell more down the rabbit hole for ac/heating I go
