So, what's the Slate's 'Jeep wave' to other Slate drivers?

Being it took me 6 months after buying my Equinox EV before I ever saw another one on the road, I say I won’t be seeing another Slate for a very long time. Most people have never heard of them.

Do you think some day Slate will start advertising them?

That duck stuff needs to go.. it is spreading to other vehicles, I saw a Suzuki SX4 the other day with them glued all over the outside. They were all different sizes and one very large one on the roof. So Ridiculous!

That could be an "art car", which is equally stupid, IMHO. There are some art cars that are really clever and interesting but the ones with stuff just glued to the outside are dumb. Again, IMHO, YMMV, ETC...

I had a Wrangler for many years, and the Jeep Wave was a great tradition. I remember seeing a HUGE drop in waves after the Liberty came out; almost none of the Liberty drivers would return the wave. Not long after, even the more "traditional" jeep operators were reluctant to give the wave, probably tired of being snubbed so many times so why bother? Was sad to experience since it was always such a strong bond.
I sold my Wrangler about 20 years ago, so it would be nice to find out if the wave is back. :)
I have had jeeps for 35 years. I’ve never waved to a non-Wrangler Jeep...

I'm old enough to remember
when VW owners
flashed their headlights to each other.
The high beam was on the turn signal lever.
Very convenient and accessible.
American cars then
had a button on the floor board.

People older than I am
may remember the first VWs in the US
that had lighted turn signal flippers
mounted high above the windows
instead of turn signal lights.
Drivers would "flip" each other.

Allow me to suggest
the Hawaiian "hang loose".
Extend the thumb and little finger
keeping the middle fingers closed
and give it a shake.

Unfortunately, Slate doesn't really have a good equivalent.

I kinda like the idea of exchanging slatelets. Im not usually a huge fan of these types of things, but its kinda unique and it may be fun to get some different ones.
Especially with how easy (I assume?) they are to print. A basic idea would be state-specific Slatelets (state shape/landmark/etc.). Like exchanging pins at Disney, or Challenge Coins at military events, or cabin numbers on cruises... that sort of thing.

Yeah exactly. They would be super easy to 3d print, so there should be a ton of unique ones. And they should be cheap.

I've found a simple wave works, at least while the car is niche. In the Geo it's 100% with other Geo/Suzuki owners becauses they're rare enough that seeing another one is a novelty. Same with the wagon and any other 80s and older woodie wagons.

The Element owners are a mixed bag. Usually the more 'custom' and loved by the owner it is the higher chance they wave back. There's another 07-08 Element EX in a color just as rare as mine in town and I have NEVER gotten a wave back and at this point it's not gonna be so much a wave when I see them as it'll be

I hope Slate succeeds enough that they become disposable appliance cars to some non-enthusiast owners, that's how we know it really made it as a company that they're selling real volumes!

Ya, for the first while I can see "frantically waving both hands in the air while barely containing excitement" to be the standard greeting.
