Based on my Model 3; 7 year battery condition (100K Miles). Range 94% of original, Winter driving at 0°F 30 miles rang decrease per 100 miles. So I would expect that the Slate under the same conditions with the Standard battery would give you about 100 miles. Also keep in mind that the charging network will be much better (more available) in 7 years. I could live with that.
Regarding charging network; Based on my last run from Detroit to Houston it's MUCH better then 7 years ago. Newbees, you will spend more time at Buckie's then you think, and that has nothing to do with charging speed.

Waiting for Ford to reveal its new little electric truck before I make any decisions on the slate.

I’m leaning Extended, however, based on cost I my go standard. I drive a 2022 Lightning with the extended range battery in it. I have never faced an issue with range and have never gone below 30%. Not because of fear, but just my usage case. (Home charging 95% of the time).

I will go Extended in large part due to potential negative affect on resell with Standard. I’m sure people will still be concerned (unnecessarily IMHO) about range when and if I decide to sell the truck. I won’t necessarily recoup my investment, but I think it will be a quicker easier sale.

Due to my commute (47 miles one way), I would likely stress a 150 mile range (perfect world). We have one charging station in the garage and it's free. I get there early enough that I would "most" likely be the first one there and be able to charge for free. Major positive.
Long range for me if the price is under 4k and home charging on the 240V to eliminate any concerns if the one and only charging station in the garage is taken.

From some articles I've read recently, the right strategy is charge al the time, but charge slow. If you are using it for your daily driver you just charge it daily, and not worry about 20/80.
If the extra weight had little impact on efficiency, the range would be more closely proportional to the battery capacity.
My daily drive is between 15-50 miles round trip. My longest, a few times a year drive is about 120 miles one way, I can charge at the end, and if needed I could probably stop somewhere along the way for lunch and a charge. None of this is going to require much planning, just program the charging to charge during off peak and slow, and plug it in when I park it.
Cold is seeming like it will be less and less of an issue, it hasn't got as cold here in years as it did back in the 80s. Heat would be the main concern, but my regular drives are well within range.
If I was planning to make road trips to say Idaho, I'd likely have to do serious planning whichever battery I chose, but the best option there would probably be just rent an ICE vehicle, or fly.

So, yeah, I'm on the standard battery choice, unless the extended is real cheap or something else comes into my calculations.

Prediction- over half of the population who gets the standard range battery will deeply regret their decision. Once you live with the truck on a daily basis, it will just become an extra chore on your already long list. The $4.K you 'saved' on delivery day will long be forgotten; and you can't change your mind down the road.

Cost and how much weight it will add/total weight is the biggest factors to me.
Somehow I have the impression that the Extended Battery option adds 300 pounds.

Do we know how much weight it adds?

Been watching that one for awhile. Supposed to be a combination compact/pickup/rideshare car platform.

Combination of price changes and chinese electric motors have largely put me off the slate. At the point its at, I feel the Ford will be better for the $$$

I think Slate will still do well, i hope it does, the more US car manufacturers the merrier. But I dont think its for me anymore. Shame because the styling is cool but its got too many negatives against it at this point. The "modular" part has never particularly mattered to me, because all vehicles are like this, it's just not as clickity clack Legos like the slate is. That part seems to be aimed at a market thats not me

Anyone currently owning an ev on this thread can relate. There are always the unexpected little errands to the drug store, Lowe’s, Lotto 🙂, fast food , etc. and typical minor emergencies that pop up daily. If your driving habits are that like my spouse, you make separate trips instead of combining them (as I do).

Now as a second household vehicle, factor in the loss of range just sitting idle (worse in cold weather). I think the use case for the Slate will be more than we predicted due to its ease of parking and just getting around. It may become the go-to vehicle in many instances.

So with all these nuisance trips and you’re like 10 miles from home, you find yourself at 20 miles of range. Add another 30 minutes to your trip for public charging to 80%. Or you can make it home with just a few electrons to spare.

I do not agree with this. My current car has about 200 miles of range at fill, I charge it about once a week or when it goes below 100 miles. Having level 2 at the house is not like hitting the DCFC or gas
pump.

Funny thing is my wife has been driving an EV as well since 2021, she was recently tooling around with a friend in their jeep. Had to hit the gas pump, It was a notable event in her response to "How was your day?. I went to a gas station today, do not miss that."

Significant Emotional Event - lately either refilling my diesel cans or my Tundra it’s been a $100 visit.
