Ram 1500 REV Electric Pickup Truck Is Dead Before It Could Pile Up on Dealer Lots
"As demand for full-size battery electric trucks slows in North America, Stellantis is reassessing its product strategy and will discontinue development of a full-size BEV pickup. As part of this, Ram is renaming its REEV-powered pickup to Ram 1500 REV (formerly Ramcharger). This vehicle will set a new benchmark in the half-ton segment, offering exceptional range, towing capability, and payload performance."

My takeaway:
You may recall this is the same guy, CEO Tim Kuniskis, that told CNBC that he didn’t think buyers would spring for the most basic versions of the Slate truck. The real answer is, they cannot compete with Slate and avoiding ev technology altogether.

My guess is they realize the extended range version would outsell the battery- only and are concentrating on where the sales are.

if the reev was half the size I’d be interested.

When seasoned buyers of pickup trucks see the word RAM, what they don't expect is a truck that hauls just 1,400 pounds and tows just 1,000 pounds. They expect a real truck.

I bet you're right. The other company that is working on an extended-range EV pickup is VW, through the revived Scout brand. It's been reported that 81% of Scout SUV/pickup pre-orders are for the "Harvester" extended-range system, with a gasoline engine acting as a generator. Only 19% of pre-orders are for the fully electric version.

If Ram doesn't end up calling their Ram that Charges itself the RamCharger that'll be the most Stellantis thing I've ever seen.
