Did the hinge covers, present since day 1, not pretty much infer it is hinged at the top? I always thought it was hinged at the top. Thanks for posting! This definitively answers the question of whether the rear glass is hinged. Yes!

If they don't immediately release STL files for the gas strut mounting bracket I'm cancelling my reservation. This forum just gets more annoying at every video release.
😭😭😭😭😭😭This fun short form content video didn't answer the specific niche question that I didn't actually ask them and now I'm here to cry about it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
FFS go ask Slate if you have questions. That's the whole point of these videos. People ask them questions - Slate answers them. We all have about the same amount of answers and information as you do.

I was thinking the mechanism for holding the glass closed might be the tailgate overlapping it, so I noted him closing glass after the tailgate was already up.And (b) how does it lock? I saw no catch or hasp, and the video shows the glass is not trapped by the tailgate... or is it? The first part of the video shows he opens the tailgate first, then lifts up the glass. At the end of the video, he closes the tailgate first, then closes the glass.
+1I'm actually hopeful that the SUV hinges can at least be adapted to the truck cab. It would be neat to have a lower latching mechanism, even if it's DIY or aftermarket, that lets the window be opened a bit from inside the cab while driving.
Maybe this is true for OEMs, but look into Scout, which is on a further out timeline, but has more info out. Rivian and Tesla take this approach too.But considering that they're already giving us FAR more info WAY further out than ANY other manufacturer would EVER consider, there is ZERO reason stress about it now.
