Excellent! Another super-informative 12-second video. So, (a) how does the glass stay open? I see no gas springs. And (b) how does it lock? I saw no catch or hasp, and the video shows the glass is not trapped by the tailgate... or is it? The first part of the video shows he opens the tailgate first, then lifts up the glass. At the end of the video, he closes the tailgate first, then closes the glass.

This company just gets more annoying at every video release.

Thanks for posting! This definitively answers the question of whether the rear glass is hinged. Yes!
Did the hinge covers, present since day 1, not pretty much infer it is hinged at the top? I always thought it was hinged at the top.

Wait was someone holding it up because I didn’t see any struts and I doubt they would go with a one strut set up or is it like a latching hinge I know at the unveiling event one person asked if it would have struts and the slate did say yes, so I’m curious if they have changed there minds very curious

😭😭😭😭😭😭This fun short form content video didn't answer the specific niche question that I didn't actually ask them and now I'm here to cry about it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

FFS go ask Slate if you have questions. That's the whole point of these videos. People ask them questions - Slate answers them. We all have about the same amount of answers and information as you do.

If they don't immediately release STL files for the gas strut mounting bracket I'm cancelling my reservation.

I guess they are still working on the final touches of the 12-second video that shows a 9-foot surfboard will fit in the SUV...

I'm actually hopeful that the SUV hinges can at least be adapted to the truck cab. It would be neat to have a lower latching mechanism, even if it's DIY or aftermarket, that lets the window be opened a bit from inside the cab while driving.

But considering that they're already giving us FAR more info WAY further out than ANY other manufacturer would EVER consider, there is ZERO reason stress about it now.

If you want something to get upset about more than some PR videos: When I asked about the wheel bolt pattern, they refused to tell me what it actually is, only saying it is a 'common' one. I am outraged!

I was thinking the mechanism for holding the glass closed might be the tailgate overlapping it, so I noted him closing glass after the tailgate was already up.

Maybe this is true for OEMs, but look into Scout, which is on a further out timeline, but has more info out. Rivian and Tesla take this approach too.
For a vehicle that is hitting production in <12 months- there isn’t much info.
