'68 Mustang similar to this one. Not a GT though. Sold it to my college roommate who had it stolen and never recovered it.

A lot of two doors and compacts as first cars, I can see why the Slate gets so much love.

My first car was a 1985 Dodge Charger. I though I was cool with that car back then :)

Was it the 2.2? There was recently a video of a person bringing an '82 back to life, it was quite an interesting watch.

1962 Ford Galaxie 500 2 door 2 tone White top copper bottom. Waite I could do that on my Slate?????
If you wrap the bottom copper you can get a white wrapped top!

Slate’s icebreaker question is: What was your first vehicle? We might as well have a thread with that.

Mine. 1984 Nissan 2 door pickup 2 wheel drive 5 speed manual. Pre hard body with the tie down hooks on the outside of the bed. The easiest truck I have ever owned to load things secure and transport items.

The Slate is taking me back.

Similar to this one.

I bought a 1957 T-Bird immediately after graduating from high school in 1966. When it rained or I drove through a water puddle the passenger and I both got soaked because the inner fenders were gone and the firewall was rotting away. I plan to sell my 2009 Hummer H3T which I have owned since new when the Slate becomes available. Cost to operate should decrease dramically

Mid 60s VW Cost $35 had a wrecked front corner. Fixed it up. Loved it. As basic as it gets. Why I like the Slate. After a few years it got totaled in a snowstorm by a big Plymouth. But still have a girl…58 years and counting! ❤

When I got my learner's permit and my dad taught me how to drive in a 1967 Jeepster Commando pickup truck. When I got my license, I bought it from him. It looked just like the one pictured below but with more rust.

It was a manual 3 speed on the floor, 4 wheel transfer case lever on the floor, no power brakes, no auto-locking hubs (manual Warner), no power steering, and the dashboard heat lever was simply labelled "off, low, high". It did not come with a radio, but the "new tech" option for the vehicle were seat belts (lap seat restraints were not federally required until 1968).
