Except for the bigger battery option and a tablet mount, I’m keeping the order to a Blank Slate. I do have a packaged roll of “Go Fast” black racing stripe from the 60’s. I’m thinking of applying it on the driver’s side hood, roof and tailgate. It will still be stealthy

looking but it may boost performance like Herbie the Love Bug.

How does this differ from the aftermarket installations of the 70’s and 80’s? Have you worked with Slate regarding specifications and fitting? I was a teen owner of a new off the lot ‘73 Econoline and I experienced the pleasures/woes of an aftermarket pop-up sunroof.

I had an aftermarket popup sunroof installed in a ‘79 Mustang by an auto repair shop. The unit would leak in the rain and water would drip in my eyes while driving.

How I miss those days…

The one I installed on my '72 Datsun Pickup's roof was leak-free.

Using a hacksaw to cut a hole into the roof of your vehicle is the kind of experience that builds character. 😉

and hacking a larger hole for your stereo, (thank god the din standard came along), and cutting into your door for speakers

I chopped up the factory radio slot in my 78 Corvette to fit a single DIN head unit. I felt so bad about it, until it was all said and done and I finally had a good sound system in that car. But cutting the factory dash bezel had quite the pucker factor for me

Installed a $50 single din unit from Amazon in my new tractor yesterday. Would seriously consider adding same to my Slate.

Looks great! I don't think I've ever seen a single DIN CarPlay unit like that before. I kinda like it!

You deserve Bonus Points for how well it matches what's on the other side. 🙂
