Sure looks like a phone! We'll know more as we get closer to production! lol

What does his facial expression say? Looks serious - maybe he's wondering where he left his lunch or key fob?

I think he's pre-ordering that Slate on his phone.

Which is ridiculous, that's clearly a laptop purchase.

This image from the How To Preorder page has a different perspective:

Guys- these are all great guesses. But actually, I think this Slate belongs to @Ronnie. He's the guy from the other thread Does it lock itself?

This dude just found that Ronnie leaves his Slate unlocked with the windows down and keys inside. He's about to steal it.

At the very least, this is how it would go down in MY neighborhood. ;)

I am not speculating on anything I see until 6/24. I want to see the specs of the production Slate. I am not trusting the accuracy of photos or the "maker" all based on beta pre-production models or just CGI renderings. Things like tire spacing in the maker may just be artifacts. They have to be constrained for NTSA safety rating. In any event, I will be driving my Slate on dirt roads, in rain, snow, slush...mud, mud, mud. Mud flaps will be a must have!

All joking aside hope you realize my concern is when I am with the truck but not inside it while working on a piece of equipment that it could lock itself with the keys and my phone in it. What a bummer that would be. At home the keys would not be in it. I do have other vehicles with keys in but not ones that the average person could drive.

Doesn't look like a phone to me. The way he's holding suggests he's pushing a physical button. I thought maybe it was the key fob, but it doesn't look like the fob they show on the website either. My guess is that it's an early prototype key fob/RFID device. If he's testing the door locks, it would make sense to leave the window open. His expression suggests that the test isn't going well

As an aside, I'm always fascinated by how quickly we can derail the original topic on this forum. I think it's our superpower. :ninja:

That is a felt squeegee for applying vinyl:

.

He's putting on a wrap but has a wrinkle.

If he was told that squeezing it should unlock the doors, that's probably why he's frustrated.

Looks like a re-rendering of phone to obfiscate what it is (prolly an iPhone coz Apple is so damn touchy).

Maybe his expression is a reaction to the cracked sideview...

The "crack" in the mirror is the reflection of the top edge of the rolled-down window. You can also get glimpse of the headrest.
