So I have been a contributing member here since shortly after Slate went wild. I have practically devoured every post, every glimmer of info, until…
yup until 6/24. My preorder secure I find myself being more selective. Whereas I would at least skim a post, searching for any tidbit, now I find myself just letting some things slip by. I know my Slate will not be fully tricked out, there are many accessories I will not own, so interest has waned.

Anyone else noticed how time seems to have slowed tremendously since 6/24?

Am I the only one getting annoyed that someone found the Slate last week and think they have the most important observation / question in the world but too lazy to do a search to reveal dozens of related posts? Just getting older? 😄😄😄

It’s typical with any new car launch, latecomers asking the same questions us old timers have already answered 100 times.
people don’t want to take the time to research, or even visit the Slate website and look at the FAQs where many questions have already been answered.

I'm excited that new people are joining the Slate fandom, even if some of the conversations rehash topics we've been scrutinizing for a year. Mostly, my approach is to not jump in right away, and leave space for new people to have new coversations, and discover things on their own.

Searching old posts and finding answers that way is great for knowledge building, but not a great way to build community. I'd much rather work on community building.

I think mostly the feeling for me is that I've learned all I need to to make my decision. Nothing is going to come up that will make me change my mind. Sure, the details are interesting, but I'll learn all that and more once a Slate is in my driveway.

I'm a fairly late comer. I read a lot first. I looked a bunch up. (What's 1PD, what's PTC?, what's VTL?)

Yeah, there has been a lot of necroposting lately for sure, threads coming back from mid 2025. And like you, I find myself getting tired of same old things and questions sometimes.

But it's still WAYYYY better than the facebook groups which inevitably get loaded up with ev haters s**t posting.

I agree with this. It's good to have people interested and talking, viewing and discussing similar problems from different angles even if the literal answer is possible to determine based on existing info. Some things have also changed since many of these conversations happened, etc.

Hype always seems to die down after some big news until the next bit of news comes out which hopefully happens sooner than later. Fingers crossed they start shipping a bit earlier to get people talking again.

We had someone today report they were promoted out of "Coming Soon" hell. We may get a few more of those to ramp excitement. I expect July 25 might be interesting too. After that, I can imagine a well engineered sequence of updates from Slate. Now if only they would clean up the buggy Maker...

You’re describing exactly how I’m feeling. I had literally read every post until 6/24 when the flood gates opened. Marked everything as “read” once the repeats got to be too much. Back to 4 pages of unread posts *sigh*

I am glad to have more members; community is good. More people buying Slates is great. I’ll be in the background lurking until I have something useful to add to the conversation.

Not to mention Slate's biggest strength is that it will sell itself. Once people start seeing Slate builds on social media and out in the wild that will be the way people first get exposed to it. So expect to continue getting these same questions just with the added benefit of first hand experience. I'm glad this community is very welcoming to these kind of people and even though it can get tiring I hope it continues to be.

In defense of the newcomers who perhaps don't have automotive background or classic forum/board skills (cuz they're used to "modern social media") - they (we, me?) are excited and want to be a part of an enthusiast community! Asking questions or starting your own thread is about the only way to do this.

If we had trucks "in hand", we'd be busy tinkering in the driveway, or at meetups, or best yet, out driving these silly things. But... until we can do that, all we can do is read, write, view.

Now, where's my damned Truck?

But I'm also OCD afflicted, so whatcha gonna do?

In defense of the newcomers who perhaps don't have automotive background or classic forum/board skills (cuz they're used to "modern social media") - they (we, me?) are excited and want to be a part of an enthusiast community! Asking questions or starting your own thread is about the only way to do this.

If we had trucks "in hand", we'd be busy tinkering in the driveway, or at meetups, or best yet, out driving these silly things. But... until we can do that, all we can do is read, write, view.
