I’ve only even name my last two cars because the wife insisted since she names hers.
My Focus ST was STacy.
My current truck is Sonja, because she’s red and built but not as big a larger trucks haha.
Not sure if I’ll name the Slate. Haven’t thought of any good names yet but honestly usually you gotta drive the car and get a feel for it before a name sticks.
Oh and I forgot we name the kit car that my kid and I are building “The Phoenix”
Two reasons. We are building a new car from the parts of a rusted out Cobalt (new from old) and she survived a fire. The frame was at the powder coat shop when the warehouse complex caught on fire and burned down to the ground expect for the shop. The roof tiles did melt onto the frame and the water from the fire trucks caused her to rust completely. But laser rust removal and fresh power coat later and all good.

I call nearly every one of my cars the "shitbox"
Leads to some confusion.

So further delineation often comes in the form of an identifier.
The little shitbox
Swedish shitbox
Big shitbox
Old shitbox
Subie shitbox
Speedy shitbox
Big blue shitbox
Etc....
So ElectricShitbox and I see eye to eye.

I may have to call the Slate either
EV shitbox or New shitbox

RAV4, Camry, Civic, XVZ1300.
I only call them names, while working on them. It usually drives the neighbors indoors.
Same, if my neighbors were close enough. Definitely not the kind of names I can use in "polite" company!

100% I do, every one of them.

Examples:

1990 CBR 1000 Hurricane - "Fast Forward" (my wife gave it that name - lol)
1999 Valkyrie Interstate - "Freight Train" (because it can carry so much stuff - like a digging bar once, and a new hammock from LL Bean - again... my wife)
2006 BMW 325i - "Eninty" (moved the "e" to the front because the BMW chassis designation is "E90")
1987 Ford Ranger STX - "The Beast" (because it was a beast off road)
1995 Jeep Wrangler YJ - "Black Jack" (because it was black - again... my wife)
2005 E46 330cI - "PJ" (because it had PJ in the VIN and the guy I bought it from was named Paul)
2008 Z4 Coupe - "Trampled Underfoot" (let's see if anyone can get that one...)
It's the Clownshoe!
I love that car!

A Z3 or Z4 coupe are always on my short list when I am looking for a "fun" car.
Right up there with most Miatas, Boxters, Caymans, and some Corvettes in my book.

2006 emerald green metallic Pontiac Solstice - Emmaline, the queen of green.

2024 Silver Maverick hybrid - Dirk
Love the Solstice, tried a couple times to buy one, never worked out yet.
There is a red 2006 with a Mallet conversion running around up here. He chose the LSX.

Some earn a nickname, some don’t. If I say “take Vinny” they know to take the VinFast. “Shitbox” refers to the ION Redline. I’m feeling the SLATE’s nickname will likely be “stumpy”.
