Has anyone heard anything definitive from Slate about a future Extended Range battery option?

I know Slate has moved to a single 205-mile battery for the initial production truck, but has anyone seen an official statement, heard from a Slate representative, or attended an event where they confirmed whether a higher-capacity battery is planned for a future model year or as an upgrade? I’d gladly pay extra for a 275–300+ mile option if it became available.

I’m looking for confirmed information rather than speculation. Thanks!

Now that the range of the standard battery increased, are you still planning to offer an extended range battery?

We heard our fans loud and clear. People want more range. So we dug in, revamped the battery, and were able to increase the standard range from an estimated 150 to 205 miles, while still keeping the cost under $25,000. We're pretty happy with that improvement and hope our customers are, too.

They have not spoken to future plans

There is zero chance of hearing anything definitive about future models or batteries untill we're well into the rollout of the current truck. I wouldn't expect even a hint until 2028 at the earliest.

Maybe we'll be putting in solid state batteries with 1000 miles of range someday.

That range will definitely be increasing as new battery tech and Slate models come out. However, they are not going to be discussing those changes until a new model is ready to open for orders.

They’re not going to kill current production orders with the promise of a better solution in the future.

That’s just Marketing 101.

Since they had a contract with SK On, I wonder if they're still working on a NMC big pack as a later option. Since they're no longer trying to do two different pack sizes with different numbers of modules, they could make it cell-to-pack (as the LFP pack is) and get a few more kwh than the original plan of 84, with the same chemistry. Maybe enough for range in the high 200s, making it a worthwhile upgrade.

Thanks, but that doesn’t really answer what I’m asking.

I’m not asking whether the current 205-mile battery is sufficient. I’m asking whether anyone has heard anything official from Slate from customer support or from a company representative that there are plans for a future extended-range battery option.

Has anyone seen or heard a definitive statement from Slate on that?

They have not and will not make any definitive statements about that. If they develop an option they will announce it when it is ready.

Post #7 is the answer to your question. Trust me! I am not a Slate employee, but I did stay in a Holiday Express last night.

Seems the simplest way to extend range is put a second battery in the Bed.

This non answer from them should tell you everything you need to know about any battery update in the near future

You’re asking randos in a forum. If you want definitive answers, contact them. They’ll tell you exactly what’s in their FAQ though. Good luck.
