The only real accessory I need other than the big battery is some speakers, but I’m almost certainly going to do that third party. I expect within a couple weeks of the truck actually getting into people’s hands Crutchfield will already have the necessary accessories and speaker sizes sorted out and there will be guides on how to get it all sorted out.

I don’t use my sound system too much so I’m happy to ride in a quiet EV for a little bit. I’ve been noticing lately how much of the sound I hear in the car is just the engine, so that’ll be a nice change of pace.
am curious how much road noise we will hear. I like the quiet if am not hearing a engine but the road noise can be annoying after driving a Tesla for a few days.. so I am def planning my sound system accordingly.

I've noticed that more media sites are starting to put out "Slate, everything we know" posts in the last few weeks. My first reaction when I see one of those is "They don't know anything".

But it does tell us that media can already taste a gazillion clicks in two weeks.

I heard on the Engineering Explained channel during a video about EV tires that on an ICEV the drivetrain makes up ~50% of noise in the cabin but less than 15% in an EV, which is why the road noise feels so loud in an EV even though it’s overall quieter.

Here’s a question I don’t recall seeing discussed, Accessories. So far the emphasis is order with truck, they get installed prior to delivery at RepairPal or someplace of Slates choosing, but also choice of DYI . Will the 6/24 announcement cover that? For instance, in my case any accessories will be DYI, but cannot be bundled with the truck. They will also not be part of my initial as I will only order a Blank Slate. Any accessories will be delivered to my home address, not delivery address. Will I be able to order same day? Same priority as my reservation? Will shipping of accessories be covered in the 6/24 announcement, if not when. A disconnect is anticipated, but by how much? When will details for shipping such as dimensions, wt etc become available.
Yes, I even hope some sort of a consolidated approach such as Amazon is up for consideration.

And will Slate U be released and complete enough for me to decide if an accessory is something I can do myself, or is it complex enough that I should I leave it to the experts and have it done before delivery (i.e. lift kits, etc.)?

Good point on Slate U. Personally I’m hoping they start populating soon, no wait for complete package. I don’t have your concerns as bed topper is my most challenging accessory (being battery isn’t upgradeable) but boy am I anxious to learn as much as I can even before hands on. I always get the complete Service Manuals with my tractors, too often finding them lacking.

Same, and like others here I'm kind of torn between "should I blank and get it as quickly as possible, or build it out how I want and delay delivery a couple more months?" I'm figuring that most of us here have waited over a year now... what's a couple more months? But still... 😂

I kinda had help with my decision. Being in Hawaii, Slate isn’t shipping to me anytime soon. Shipping cost of anything here is just a fact of life, Paradise Tax some call it. So using AI (I know) I must get the Slate to Pasha port in San Diego. I’m using SIL address outside LA as my delivery address on reservation, and unknown where Slate will delivery. According to AI slate has to deliver the truck to SD port for shipping else I am liable for CA sales tax. Not allowed to use a 3rd party/broker trans, solely Slate if I need move LA to SD. Can’t even touch the vehicle. To have delivered to a RepairPal for accessories would trigger the CA Tax, although that would be best way to ship with topper installed. Still more details to work out, but does give me direction. Subject to evolving info.

Probably well after the 30-day pre-order deposit window closes. No one knows for sure yet, but my guess is that we won't see public access to finished trucks until late fall at the earliest.

I don't see that accessories will delay delivery, aside from a couple of weeks max for delivery to the installer and installation if things are really busy. Accessories and installation will not have to be decided on in any case for at least several months by my read of the timeline, all we are doing June-July is putting down a real deposit to lock in a delivery window. Maybe we choose a battery size at that time, but plenty of time after to decide on accessories.

I am hopeful that they roll out test drive events using trucks they are slowly rolling off the line now and keeping under wraps. I'm sure they aren't all set up, but with the videos showing frames going through the line, it's possible that they at least get a handful finished by the end of the month.

You say "what's a couple more months" now, but once some of us have them in our driveways, those are going to seem like some VERY long months.
