Yep, I am Jan-Mar 2027.Worse case scenario, you get it and decide its not for you. The immediate resale on it with low miles has to be pretty good if you have a relatively early delivery date.

It is my understanding if you buy the options and accessories when you order the truck the price will include installation. Slate has stated “You get the truck/SUV exactly how you order it. “A year ago I said I wanted one, but didn’t pay out the $50, nor follow the progress. I pre-ordered for $300 on opening day and got a ‘coming soon’ delivery date (the back of the bus, behind those who paid the $50. I like the look and concept very much, but I ran the configure tool and saw the price rise, and I foresee more increases to install the wrap and add a destination charge. Doubts are lingering, but I will hold for now. What would help? Clarity on tires, and how to get some of the options like wraps done before delivery, and the cost of that. Clarify how service works. Clarify the title transfer process without an in-state dealer.
My understanding is the opposite. All accessories will be delivered with the truck, not on the truck. I was watching one of the videos wednesday and he was pretty specific with thatIt is my understanding if you buy the options and accessories when you order the truck the price will include installation. Slate has stated “You get the truck/SUV exactly how you order it. “
I fully expect that lots of people will put down the $300 but then when December comes along, they will have second thoughts. Maybe as many as a third of them.First off, I love the concept.
Now I am not sure that $25k + tax/title/fees/delivery is worth it... I am now on the fence. Am I the only one?
I seriously doubt the prices include installation. They have said the price is the same regardless of when you purchase it, and we know the options will not be added at the factory but rather at the distributor (separate company). It is my understanding if you buy the options and accessories when you order the truck the price will include installation. You are not the only one with second thoughts! As soon as I did all the math, looked at the delivery timeframe, I decided against the purchase of a Slate Pickup. The idea of a pick up that was inexpensive, could do many things, was intriguing one year ago. Maybe I had too much time to think about it, and yes, decided against it.I fully expect that lots of people will put down the $300 but then when December comes along, they will have second thoughts. I'm sure you won't be the only one. There's a couple of orders of magnitude difference between $300 and $30k.
I'm going to buy, but I have to admit that when I'm in the maker, I'm really struggling to keep the OTD price under $30k. I keep thinking, but I really want this or that feature.
you are safe. 100% the wrap pricing is product only, no installation included in that price.I'm really drawn to the DIY ethos, so I actually wouldn't want the truck to come with everything installed. I want to do it myself, that's part of the fun!
Not even the wrap. So one of my concerns is that if I do spring for a wrap at order time, if they'll just automatically install it. I'm likely to just order blank, then immediately upon receipt of the truck pick up a wrap kit just to ensure that doesn't happen.
Just wait until they are available used. IF they follow other EVs they will be 15K within 2 years.First off, I love the concept. Cheap, simple, no extra crap forced into the purchase price that I don't want. Just a small, basic vehicle that will get me from A to B. Don't need to haul, don't need to tow (that is what my Tundra is for), just a simple runabout that I can use for my 8 mile commute to work and never have to buy gas just to get to work. My first vehicle was a 1989 Toyota base pickup. No clock, no A/C, bench seat and no passenger side mirror...but it was new. Everything I hated about that truck is what I was looking for in this truck. Funny how age does that.
However...
Now I am not sure that $25k + tax/title/fees/delivery is worth it. This is not a "the Maverick is cheaper", "the new Ford EV truck will be under $30k" complaint (I would never buy a Ford), it is just that $30k for a stripped down truck is, for me, a waste of money. I know it is not Slate's fault the tax incentive went away, but if this was $20k OTD then this is an easy purchase for something brand new. But $30k takes it in another direction for me. I am now on the fence. Am I the only one?
I have a 2010 tundra, my mechanic said never sell it because the engine and quality of the build on these old tundras is amazing. However my wife refuses to drive it, so when her car is in the shop then I have to drive her everywhere.First off, I love the concept. Totally agree, and the reality is that there's huge added value in the fact that this will have all the required safety equipment (and engineering knowledge) that has been gained in the past 30 years. That's just the sad fact of inflation. Slate's 25K price is the 10K s-10 you could've got in 1995.
