I don't think OP should jump to any conclusions on it. There is plenty of time to let it soak in, and consider the use case. I'd also say that this is still very much early-adopter mode, so for people who are extremely budget constrained, I wouldn't suggest being in the first waves - get a used Bolt and wait a few years to see what happens.

There WILL be issues and recalls with the early models. It won't be my primary vehicle, I'm an engineer who does all his own automotive work, and I'm fortunate enough right now that I could write off a pretty big expense if Slate goes bust. But if I had exactly enough money to get one car, and I need it every day to get myself to work and my kids to school, I would think twice about being in wave 1.

My understanding is the opposite. All accessories will be delivered with the truck, not on the truck. I was watching one of the videos wednesday and he was pretty specific with that
Well we are sort of both right, According to the CEO in the TFL video all the exterior stuff like wraps, SUV kits, Open Air Kits, Wheels and tires and will be installed before you get it and any of the interior stuff you can install it yourself or have a repair pal center install it.

First off, I love the concept. Cheap, simple, no extra crap forced into the purchase price that I don't want. Just a small, basic vehicle that will get me from A to B. Don't need to haul, don't need to tow (that is what my Tundra is for), just a simple runabout that I can use for my 8 mile commute to work and never have to buy gas just to get to work. My first vehicle was a 1989 Toyota base pickup. No clock, no A/C, bench seat and no passenger side mirror...but it was new. Everything I hated about that truck is what I was looking for in this truck. Funny how age does that.

However...

Now I am not sure that $25k + tax/title/fees/delivery is worth it. This is not a "the Maverick is cheaper", "the new Ford EV truck will be under $30k" complaint (I would never buy a Ford), it is just that $30k for a stripped down truck is, for me, a waste of money. I know it is not Slate's fault the tax incentive went away, but if this was $20k OTD then this is an easy purchase for something brand new. But $30k takes it in another direction for me. I am now on the fence. Am I the only one?
Bought any beef or anything else lately?

I seriously doubt the prices include installation. They have said the price is the same regardless of when you purchase it, and we know the options will not be added at the factory but rather at the distributor (separate company).
So are they going to send you a separate bill? Slate has not said it will cost extra to have the wraps and other stuff added before the truck gets shipped. Or did I miss that part?

I'm having second thoughts of only ordering 1. A few times now I've been tempted to pull the trigger on another for my son. Lawd help me, hold me back! 😂
Me too!!!! But I can’t really justify a $31K truck and a $40K SUV….only 3 slots in the garage and 2 are spoken for!

there's nothing unclear, folks.
The prices Slate has listed for accessories DOES NOT include installation.
By the time, months from now, that you get the chance to actually place an order, you'll need to pay additional for installation, and that will be included in the final cost.

You will receive the vehicle with the accessory installed (if you paid for that).

Slate has NEVER said the wrap price "includes installation", they have ALWAYS said installation will be an additional cost.

Show me the quote from Slate… I have never seen it.

I thought the wrap would be factory installed, though I'm not sure. So far I have no regrets about pre ordering. I haven't seen any reason not to pull the trigger .yet

Directly from the general manager of wraps:
Will offer installation for under $500. Pick a solid color (at $499), and all-in price is under $1000.

Well that could really add up.. glad I am just getting a no option Blank Slate.

later in the Video the CEO mentioned that after the truck was built then they would move it to separate part and install the SUV kit and other things like the wrap and wheels and tires. Time stamp about 52:30

I should also add that people on this forum have talked to agents about wrap price and reported back the same. Let's just say don't count on an "all in" price for wraps being $500. Very unlikely from multiple sources.

But that gets down to my irritation with Slate, and one of the many reasons I have not pre-ordered. No details. Confusing messages. Builder/maker that is vague. Prices (destination charge?) that are foggy.

Hence, I will likely wait past the 30 day window and let my reservation ride, unless they actually give me an early delivery window, which they have not. ("coming soon"). I suspect we will get a lot of these details presented to us, oh, around December 15.

For my part, I was first looking at Telo, but my 2001 Ranger is having more bad days than good lately, so I might want something sooner than my reservation window of late 2028. I might look at again in the 2030’s if they’re still around then.

Then I was thinking the Ford UEV, because I like my Ranger and Ford is all about efficiency, which as a second EV to my wife’s EX30, would be next logical step. However, the more I get to drive the EX30 with its Tesla-style command center tablet, the more I like my Ranger’s gauge cluster, and ironically, that will not be the Ford truck.

So, Slate. It was my last choice of the three initially, but that simplicity won me over, and that range bump with the switch to LFP just sweetened the deal.

I even wonder if this is a unique stage of the company. If Slate gets to the point where it has an IPO or gets bought, its design philosophy may get lost amongst the search for more money.

Solid post! I must have skipped through that when I was watching all of the release videos on Wednesday. That was the only option I had picked as an absolute, everything else was secondary for me. Good to know it will come from the factory already wrapped for $500

Are we living in the twilight zone? Time and time and time again Slate representatives have said installation is an additional charge for wraps. And they state under $500. So your non-premium wrap will be $900 to $1000 in total. Look at the closed captioning of this screen shot. This is installation, not parts price.
