I had someone ask me who made my Equinox while standing right in front of the Bowtie. Who does not know what a Chevy Emblem is?
I say there will be people ask who makes the Slate while looking at the name..

Just another point of view. I think the embossed Slate letters are rather subtle, and as many have pointed out, in some viewing angles it’s barely noticeable. The black decal letters are available to those who really want the name to stand out.

I'm okay with it but ONLY if they offer a blank tailgate for an extra $600 because that's how much I hate the embossing.

I was noticing all the newer trucks I passed this evening, they all had deep recessed embossing on the tailgates, at least the Slate is sightly raised and not deeply recessed which I think looks much worse and would definitely be harder to wrap than the Slate’s tailgate.

I think people expect to be able to look at the tailgate and know what brand of truck they are looking at. This will be especially important in the early years when there is no brand recognition. Tesla has been pretty successful with a minimalist approach to badging with largely no model badging just a few Tesla logos.

I don't have any issue with the very subtle branding - in comparison to other vehicles, a "Slate" on the front and a "Slate" on the back hardly signifies.

Maybe yesterday I din't tilt enough. I just expected it to be visible or not visible.

I sent Slate an email with my suggestion for the tailgate…. If their final production decision is to have embossed raised letters on the tailgate, at least offer a smooth unlettered tailgate body panel as an accessory that can replace the stock panel. I think that the supplier should be able to make unlettered body panels since that’s what Slate had in their original prototype.
