Can’t we just mirror the phone to a usb c monitor, would also allow you to maybe have a pi or ps5. What do you fine folks think? Amazon just for an example.

I could be completely wrong about this, but I believe SA has said that if the user wants to have a infotainment-like screen in the vehicle that displays the vehicle's data, it needs to run the Slate app, which means a tablet computer is required, Android or iOS.

A monitor is not a computer, it's just a screen that attaches to a computer.

However, if what you are thinking of is running said Slate app on your phone, but having it mirror to the larger monitor, I suppose that might be possible.

But why? Why not just get a tablet? They run all the apps you could ever want and it eliminates the mirroring BS.

Yah some tablets are as low as 10 bucks or less if you know where to look if you realllllly need one
I know exactly what kind of tables those are. Way back in the day my step-father entered some contest at our local Chevrolet dealer and one of the door prizes was a 'tablet.' Ended up winning that tablet and it was some barely functional no-name loaded with an old version of generic android. And it was pre-loaded with chinese-language apps and music videos.

Ideally that would be perfect for the Slate. My big concern with having the iPad is the price of something easily stealable that's just sitting there. A generic Android tablet would definitely hurt less getting ganked.

And you can still mirror the tablet to your phone for the phone function.

You are 💯 correct. The USB-C is for connecting your device to the car to control / communicate with it. A USB-C screen would be pretty much useless here.

A screen that has wireless mirroring might be of better use, but even then, it's still just mirroring your phone so it'll basically just be a zoomed in phone screen.
