I'm hoping they offer diy 2nd motor and battery expansion options maybe a range extender also interests me
Manly because of charging cycles and residual value. MNC's are rated for about 2000 charges ( Bigger battery, fewer charges). I'll keep it for about 15 years and want to be able to sell it for "Something" rather than having to pay a possible fee for disposing of it. Fast charging also kills MNC batteries faster and will be a last resort. Not sure why you would pay for the big battery? 4K miles a year is about 77 miles/week. Unless you do a long trip every month? With the DC Fast charging, what's the big deal with stopping a few times to recharge? Or take back roads and maybe get 300 miles on the small battery at 40MPH?

Careful to state that a battery pack's cycle is measured in cycles, not charges.Manly because of charging cycles and residual value. MNC's are rated for about 2000 charges
Based on other EV brands - reservations does not equal orders.Didn't they say they were only going to produce around 150k per year?
In another week or so they will have sold out the first year of production.
So glad I got my reservation in
I wish Slate updated the offical pre-order count periodically. Just curious how purchase interest has continued. Pulling hard for Slate.Very impressive!! And goes to show the huge demand for a cheap EV truck.
Buzzy new EV startup Slate Auto has racked up more than 100,000 reservations for its customizable low-cost electric pickup truck, the company has confirmed to TechCrunch.Slate crossed the milestone over the weekend, just a little more than two weeks after coming out of stealth mode and unveiling the truck at an event in Los Angeles, California. The company has said the truck will start below $20,000 after applying the $7,500 federal EV tax credit and plans to build the vehicles at a former printing plant in Warsaw, Indiana, as TechCrunch first reported.“We are truly humbled by America’s response to Slate’s brand launch and the launch of our truck,” Slate’s chief commercial officer Jeremy Snyder said in a statement to TechCrunch. “We are excited for what the future holds.”
Fisker Ocean had lots of reservations too, but eventually had 40k cancellations and only delivered 4,700 units before going bankrupt.
I really want this truck but if another manufacturer builds a small 2 door truck I'm out.

Curious to know how many reservation holders requested a refund/cancelled their reservation once the federal incentives went away. Correct me if I got this wrong but Slate has continued to promote reservations at 160,000, but no word on cancellations. Not expecting any such announcements, just been wondering where those numbers are lately.I wish Slate updated the offical pre-order count periodically. It's not a mandate. Mandate necessitate a loss of choice. Not the same thing as an incentive. The "mandate" language is right wing anti-democratic, pro oligopoly, corporate speak designed to manipulate your emotion and cloud your logical thinking. Don't fall for it.I still say if you are holding a Slate reservation and one key reason for your interest was the subsidized price of below $20K, then just wait until after the midterm elections and see where the votes shake out. If (err.. cough... when) Congress flips parties, then the EV mandate/incentives will return before the Slate really starts rolling out of Warsaw. My opinion.
I'm very well versed in the subject matter and have been following it since mid 1980's. It's a mandate, er, was a mandate; will be again. Trust me on this. I've read all the legislation, CARB, EPA, etc. My own conclusion, not anyone else's.It's not a mandate. Mandate necessitate a loss of choice. Not the same thing as an incentive. Stop thinking everyone is a lemming.
I would very much like to see the EV incentive reinstated, but for very different reasons than the political. It was the “Green / Climate change” focus that killed it, rather than emphasizing benefits tied to manufacturing, labor, technology, etc. Except for not having my Slate EV yet, living 100% off grid I may be one of the greenest living on this forum, but never would even my most politically correct friends have the audacity to suggest my rationale is to be green. Neither is my interest in the Slate.I still say if you are holding a Slate reservation and one key reason for your interest was the subsidized price of below $20K, then just wait until after the midterm elections and see where the votes shake out.
