I took an IRL pic with the Slate at the Ft. Worth showing for just this reason. I looked at the pic and I'd estimate that the bed sidewall "reachover" height is about 45'' based on measuring the same pose from my elbow. For reference I'm 6'0 on the dot.

Elsewhere on this forum there is a table posted with some dimension info - in that table the bed length with tailgate down is 81.6" (and the bed length is otherwise listed as 5' = 60") - so a sidewall height of 21.6" seems to be a reasonable assumption.

Edit to include thoughts on bed sidewall height from ground - the wheel diameter with the 17" rims and 245/65 Kenda Klever tires is ~29.5" - eyeballing the photo above from Luxrage this seems to confirm that the sidewall height from the ground is approx. 45".

Finally - math for the height of the truck bed above the ground yeilds about 23" or 24" (45" less 21.6").

You guys got me interested in bed height. I went out and measured my Maverick bed. It's 29" off the ground, which is my inseam. It's a wonderful height. Minimal bending. Easy to step into using the bumper as a step. Easy to reach over the side to grab things too. I'm a big fan of ergonmics. The "H Point" of my Maverick is perfect for just sliding into the seats.

I'm hoping the Slate has similar measurements. It's just an old guy thing. If you're young and flexible, you probably couldn't care less.

What I have been asking is seat and threshold height (too many Orthopedic issues from too many years as an Army paratrooper).

One of the reasons I am looking at the slate vs the other is it is a truck not a car and hopefully easier to to in and out of (and all the other reasons we are all looking at it),

ROTFL. Same here! All my lower back issues date back to my paratrooper days in the 1/508, 82nd Div, 50 years ago. FWIW, I love my Maverick XLT seats. They are actually theraputic. The power lumbar adjust is worth its weight in gold. Also, the heated seat is a lifesaver. I run the heat on the middle setting 365 days a year.

I asked this question a while back on the slate subreddit. Like here, no one had a great answer.

However, Slate put something out at some point that stated that someone around 5'6'' could sit on the tailgate and put their feet on the ground.

This is not that info:

Just a shoutout to the paratroopers on this thread. Thank you for your service, sincerely. I have a paratrooper friend on disability from a jump gone wrong that ended in a TBI. Ya'll are heroes in my book. Dangerous job even away from the hot zone.

Yep, based on what others have said here it appears that the bed height is going to be about 23" - 24", being a relatively short old fart that's important to me, don't want to be hoisting my bicycles up too far at my age. Thanks.

You can get a lift or lowering kit also so that could change depending on which you get.

I had a few friends in 2/325. When I was not gone, I spent my time on Smoke Bomb Hill. (IYKYK)
