For three years on my commute to work
my Yamaha V-Max got 40 mpg
and passed 1,000 bumper to bumper vehicles
as I cruised 11 miles of HOV lane.

I don’t get it. Why couldn’t a pickup with two passengers (driver and one other person) go on an HOV lane? My wife and I in our car go in them and have never had a question about it. Are some HOV lanes for only 3 or more people?

Well, you shouldn't if it doesn't fit your needs. It's pretty cool that EVs were able to use the HOV lane with only one occupant where you're at. That's never been the case where I'm at.

I usually buy used cars. That's worked out well, and I wouldn't mind continuing. (ProTip: A pre-purchase inspection by a good mechanic is money well spent.)

Some of the items on the list👆 are why I'd buy a Slate Truck new, but not any other new vehicle.

My 2 door S10 pickup sat 4! Legally! Three in the front seat if you folded up the center arm rest thingy and then there was a side mounted foldup jump seat in the 'extended' cab behind the passenger's side seat that even an average sized adult person could fit in. So even a base model S10 could seat 3, while a 4 door could seat 6. And thats not even getting into the Blazers (SUVs).

I used the jump seat a few times if no one else could/would fit; it wasnt bad other than all the stereo stuff I'd installed. :/

And that ignores if we get to see a return of rear facing bed seats like the Subaru Brat got.

I think rear facing bed seats would be difficult to fit. Just behind the rear wall of the "truck" configuration, there is a panel in the bed that gets removed to become a footwell, and the rear seat sits directly on the bed just behind that footwell, from what I've seen. A rear facing seat would have you stretching your legs towards the back of the bed. The battery probably starts behind that footwell, under the bed, so it's a fixed position.

It's country wide. The federal government is letting the program expire, so states can't issue or recognize the stickers anymore. As of September 30, the stickers are all invalid and you can be fined.
