So the original thread were I complaind about this got locked. So I'll say here what I said there.

Dammit! There'no long-range version. 205 miles isn't enough for me. Winter range will be even worse.

I wanted this so bad and would've paid for the bigger battery. Why, Slate? Why?
For the base price tag under $25K, getting 205 miles is an excellent deal IMO.

My Mach E gets 200 miles range at more than double the price - so I am quite tickled at Slate!

Here's an option:
Just get the Solar power tonneau cover and you will have extra range all day long.

If a 110 outlet adds 50 miles overnight what does a solar panel do in 8 hrs of sun, 5 miles? What a out cloudy days?

Oof... I haven't even looked at the new stuff in the builder yet because of this here... I'm going to want it all!
Toughest decision I'll be facing is which one of my children to sell so I can afford it (looking at you Sunshine Moonbeam, do your chores!)

Nothing Fun
Not really, for the base price, you are getting an intermediate / upper range EV.

I think it's great that Slate is offering only 1 battery option and changed battery chemistry (LFP) so that you make most people happy.

My Mach E with 230 mile range is more than enough for daily commutes and long distance road trips, thanks to Tesla Superchargers I use 4 times a month.

I actually get 200 miles of range on the Mach E due to the 2" lift suspension, larger tires, non OEM RFT tires, and 19" wider rims.
205 miles… upper range? Maybe years ago…

I’d call intermediate now 280-320, generously 260-320. Lets be realistic

That appears to only charge the auxiliary pack option, not the truck itself. Unless I'm looking at it wrong.

3000 bucks for a 300-Watt panel is nuts.

An all-day charge will give you maybe an extra mile of range.

I'm torn about this. I was planning on getting the extended range battery and willing to pay extra for it. In reality, it's not like 205 is any different from 240 for a vehicle that will see less than 15 miles a day 99.9% of the time.

Still, it feels like I'm getting less then I expected while also paying less than I expected.
One nice upside is that if the LFP gives you more usable daily range than the now defunct extended range battery would at its recommended 80% charge limit.

Obviously not an apples to apples comparison if you charge the NMC to 100% for a road trip, but still, I'm quite pleased with the 65kWh/63kWh usable LFP pack standard.

Maaaan, I was REALLY hoping for the extended range, and that if the base was upped to 205 then the extended would be close to 300. This will affect my buying decision...
Also, did someone else say they nixed the power windows???

I was planning to pay $3K or $4K extra for 240 miles, but I can live with 205 miles for $25K. More stops and home charging, just gotta have this truck.

This is the first time that I have to ogle a new car for such a long time. 🤩

The power windows module is no longer an option on the builder... but I doubt they get rid of it altogether. Maybe it just needs more development. Aftermarket will likely offer options.

If you want Ford's proprietary electronics, dealers, internal and external cameras and microphones, and someone who will helpfully sell your usage data to your insurance company so you don't have to think about it, go Ford. And if you do, you may improve my spot inline for a slate.
