From the sited page.
If I’m honest, a reliable Ranger EV would fit my use case and I could scrap the Lightning, which is overkill except for towing every 6-8 weeks. (Going to put it to the test on Saturday!)

I may be dead and gone before this ever happens. 😧
I think this article is referring to a larger F-150 sized EV, not the truck they’re supposed to announce on the 11th. It’s one of the smaller more affordable options they’re referring to in the article.

🤔 I wonder what made them shift their focus to the small, affordable truck?

Economics. They are losing their arse on the Lightning. Surely they can scale down in all ways and make money?

Okay can’t hold it in any longer- From what I know it’s not going to be an electric Maverick. I know an upper upper management person at the manufacturing site that says “it’s ugly as hell” and “it’s going to be a failure”.

if it looks anything like that render, then I’d agree it’ll be a failure(because I don’t have a taste for the santa Cruz ford). I don’t have pics and haven’t seen it. My source says they are extremely serious about no cameras on premises. Plant leader isn’t even allowed photographs. But that’s pretty much all I know.

Well why not? Vette and Porsche have variants.
Less about variants and more about crossovers. Everything is a crossover these days, and I'm just tired of them. They all look the same to me.

I'm also not a fan of the trend of taking an established vehicle name and plastering it on a crossover. Mitsubishi did it with the Eclipse Cross, Ford did it with the Mach E, we have the Chevy Blazer, and the Toyota Crown Signia, Dodge Hornet, and probably some others that I'm not remembering currently.

Porsche is a brand and not a model, and they were never dumb enough to dilute the name of their most iconic model(s). There is no not-911 badged as a 911 when it could just as easily stand alone with it's own name. GM is just dumb enough to follow Ford's example, despite Mach E being a fine name in its own right, but that has not yet progressed beyond rumor and speculation. If they do, it will be met with equal derision and mockery. A much more clever and appropriate heritage name for a Corvette adjacent sporty crossover would be Nomad... But most corporate execs aren't clever, just deceptive, yet they think that's the same thing.

Yes, that is correct. However the T3 was originally announced as coming 2026, if memory serves. It was delayed once several months back to 2027 and now to 2028. If they keep that up, I’ll be dead and gone. 🤪

I think you have it backwards... The new F150 is being delayed to make room for the T3. They are different.

Huh. You might want to check your sources again. The article is taking about delaying T3 (New midsized EV truck platform) not the F150. If you’re thinking it’s a 150 Lightning replacement it’s not. At least not a direct replacement. We likely see the Lightning go away when it comes to market, but it not a direct replacement.

There is a smaller, cheaper EV truck platform coming soon that will fit between the Maverick and Ranger assuming the talking heads are correct. That one will be discussed on a live stream from Ford on the 11th of this month.
