I'm genuinely curious. By accessories I mean everthing above the blank Slate. Wraps, kits, bigger battery, whatever. Why am I curious? Because the amount people have in their minds is a big indicator of Slate's aftermarket profit potential. I'm personally very interested in Slate's business financials - almost more so than the Slate itself. Just because I love following the automotive industry as a business.

Guys, I get it. We don't know the cost of the various items. But surely you have a budget in mind, and will allocate it appropriately. Also, I understand that the cost of the base Slate might affect your budget. So let's arbitrarily set a cost, after delivery, registration, paperwork of $25,000. We don't know that, but we need a number to start with. So assuming you spend $25,000 for your delivered Slate, how much more do you plan to spend?

Thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

I'm right there with you on this. I am now more interested in the endeavor more than the product.

If I buy a Slate, I'll paint it rather than wrap it.

Tough to say what I would spend over the lifetime of owning it, but it would be mostly maintenance items. As for what I would get right away, it's the same as any other vehicle: nice floor liners and a stereo. Probably a second set of wheels for snows.

Again, hard to say.

There's an outside chance I'll pick up the fastback, depending on how much the frame blocks my view over the shoulder and how easy it is to remove. If I have to spend three hours just to help a friend move a couch or refrigerator, that puts a damper on the cover proposal.

My OEM upgrades are going to be minimal; probably the center console, larger rear bumper, and upgraded taillights, if they're more effective at communicating turns and such.

My third party upgrades are going to be another story. I'd like to mess around with a homebrewed dashcam system and homebrewed onboard telemetry. I'll probably build in a little custom storage behind the seat and in the backseat wheel well, if it's at all accessible. Tie-down loops for the T-rail on the bed for one of those elastic spiderweb nets will be handy, and possibly homemade.

Amber turn signals and dimmer, non-blinding headlights are an ABSOLUTE must, regardless of where I get them. My idea of vehicle safety involves not dazzling my fellow drivers at night.

In terms of oem accessories, I hope to spend as little as possible, probably power-mirrors only. General accessories? I have plans for solar panels and some storage containers in the bed.

Anyone going for an SUV kit will be up over $5k right out of the gate. For myself I’ll be keeping it a truck, but costs add up either way. Bumpers, second set of wheels, power windows, a little stereo setup, ham radio because why not, tool box, hitch, etc… I’d easily hit $5k in the first year just having fun.

not planning to add anything. I might add a tonneau cover, but with the frunk I might not need to.

Silver Maverick XLT Hybrid - "Dirk"
SUV kit w/no rear seat.
Big battery.
2 tone wrap kit, self installed
Double-Din (hopefully) Stereo head unit w/carplay and door speakers

Plan to make a one person in-car camper. May have to sleep in fetal position but oh well.

I want to add accessories that make it look like something this, when I’m all done. Full roof rack, rear tire carrier with Slate logo, roof access ladder, lift kit, all terrain tires, aggressive wheels, fender flares, rounded tail lamps, black wrap, and tinted glass all around. And no tailpipe 🙂. Basically a Grenadier look alike for less than $40K.

The only thing I need is topper for the dogs. SUV kit in any configuration, if anywhere near $5k, nope, will find a 3rd party option. A basic radio and speakers, so saying $3k, but no doubt I will be adding 3rd party options over time.

I sincerely hope there isn’t a major player at Slate pushing the philosophy that we will pay a premium price for accessories no matter what.

At the moment I am thinking mainly bare slate. I may get some interior accessories for convenience, probably a bluetooth speaker. I might go with a self installed wrap or even just wrap the top in white.

I already have $$$ earmarked for the basic Slate. Some items will depend on how much information is available. e.g. As soon as I can have specs, I can have my son 3D print accessories...but that is in the family. I will be selling my Outlander and using whatever $$$ I get from that for funding add-ons. Early on plan on white/blue 2 tone wrap 50s style, fog lights to help 76 YO eyes, Push button radio either old one from my junk pile, or "new" from Retro Radio for old look but modern function. (Speakers to be determined. BT or wired). Tow hitch. Near future winch, snow or aggressive all weather tires, spare tire. Running boards/nerf bars.

Here is the dilemma; add on SUV kit or get a second Slate as a full time SUV. (Not as crazy as you may think...wife likes the idea.)
