The things you don’t even think of when it comes to EV when you’re not an EV owner

That would be June, not July not January, back to the planning board
I only know because I can't run in EV mode on my Jeep when it's below 40F...it simply refuses to dip from the battery. Due to complaints, this may have been fixed somewhat in a firmware update, but I've never been to the shop. Bonestock firmware April 2021. My tail lights remain dim when Regen breaking. 😗

I could see slate lobbying for an exemption in Indiana law for an Indiana based manufacturer to be able to direct sell in Indiana.

I would just take my 8.1L gas powered 2500HD GMC and a trailer. 8 miles to the gallon to pick up my EV. 🤘🛻

I asked and the answer for now was ‘not at this time’. I would love a factory pickup. Rivian does it. Many other MFG do it. Lots of good prior suggestions.

I love this idea. One thing to be aware of about the state of Indiana ... our auto dealership laws are still stuck in the 1950s. I haven't heard much about how Slate plans to tackle this yet. Tesla's approach 7-8 years ago was interesting (and successful):

Or..Mark Walter is a Carvana investor and Carvana is national including Indiana so they could do the factory delivery as well as be a national delivery channel…hmmmm

hopefully they rethink that strategy in the next 16 months, it would help lower costs, lessen logistics and make for potentially a better buying experience

I’m sure their focus is on getting there, we are asking them to put the cart before the horse at this point, at some point they will get to where they need to really fine tune the delivery process and customer pickup could help them deliver

I do hope for an option to pick it up from the plant. I am about 200-miles away from the plant. My sister visits her in-laws in Columbia City, IN and Warsaw is on the way. My thought is to purchase the extended battery, hitch a ride with her, and drive it back, hoping I have enough battery to get home. I'd be driving through Chicago and Chicago suburbs, so if I have to, there will be places to charge. Plus, my work is planning on installing chargers for EV's, and that is 46-miles from home, so I could always top off over there.

Dan

P.S., never had an EV, so I am sure I will be a bit nervous about the maiden voyage of this truck if I go that route.

I wouldn't be surprised if the early Slates are delivered via a third party shipper. I used them once for a car I bought in Pennsylvania that was being shipped to Texas and they just had me meet them at the local Wal-mart and dropped off my car there. Would have been a dream delivery had they not parked my car under an extremely leaky 60s Thunderbird and half my car was covered in oil :rain:

I really like this idea. Slate should work with the Warsaw Chamber of Commerce to package this up. I hear the Anthology Whiskey Room is a pretty good spot.
Oh boy Anthology Whiskey room is crazy 1500 whiskeys on the shelf I have been to most of Whiskey bars and distillery in KY I am MaKers Mark Ambassador Warsaw has
Pappy on the shelf not cheap but they have all of them all beat My wife works at Warsaw we are only 20 minutes away seeing activity at plant already
