Slate’s icebreaker question is: What was your first vehicle? We might as well have a thread with that.

Mine. 1984 Nissan 2 door pickup 2 wheel drive 5 speed manual. Pre hard body with the tie down hooks on the outside of the bed. The easiest truck I have ever owned to load things secure and transport items.

The Slate is taking me back.

Similar to this one.

First car ever was a hand-me-down Ford Taurus. Super boring. First car I bought new was a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire. 2 door, manual transmission, crank windows. Came with an AM/FM radio, but no CD/Tape. It had an engine that was shared with much heavier cars, so was way overbuilt for this little thing. This is the car I miss.

1991 Nissan Sentra XE coupe; GA16DE, 5-speed manual. A good (not great) vehicle that got me through the later portion of undergrad. Returned 42MPG on the highway, which was great when I was paying for fuel via couch change.

Then…

Replaced with (my first autonomously bought) brand new 2001 Mazda Protege ES 2.0; FS-DE, 5-speed manual. It was admirably reliable, but I hated its noisy, poor riding, primitive character. Sold after two years for…

Used 1990 Geo Prizm GSi Hatchback; Small-Port Toyota 4A-GE, 5-speed manual. A great vehicle. Acquired with 103k miles, and still Toyota reliable. I bought this to get me by while I saved for a 7th Generation Honda Accord. Sold my beloved Geo to a fellow who grew up idolizing the GSi as his favorite car, to help in purchase of my CR-V.

New 2007 Honda Accord EX-L; K24A8, 5-speed manual, with factory navigation. A near-great vehicle, minus Honda’s typical lazy attitude toward road-noise control. Iceholes. Sold to help finance my Bus restoration project after acquiring my 2006 CR-V, used.

I don't have any pictures of it, but my first car was a 1977 Datsun 280Z. It had a 4 speed manual, factory AC(didn't work), and no power anything. It definitely was a fun car!

'94 Thunderbird V8. Fast, smooth, a great luxury car. Grandfather was a freshly retired engineer at Ford's engine plant and told me it was the best car Ford had ever made. The power dimming rear-view mirror lives on in my LTD. It was a great car and I loved the looks, but it had the creakiest, rattliest interior of any car I've ever owned. But it was hard to say no to that color. Deep emerald green. If I got a Slate wrapped it'd be that color. I got it at 26k miles and it gave me nearly 100K trouble free miles until rust took it out.

Picture of it back in 2009 or so:

A 76 Blue Ford Explorer. (In the 70's the explorer was a pickup)
