I don't remember where I first heard about it, I think it was the commercial for the Taxider-My-Family YouTube video.

Ha, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure this is how I found out as well! If I had known about Slate before the 24th, I would have been on it! As luck would have it, I was shopping around for a new EV anyway, accidentally happened upon their commercial on the 27th, eagerly jumped into the rabbit hole, and here I am! 😂

My $50 reservation was only a few weeks back, presumably > 160,000th. I received the email too. Clearly they are banking on a lot of people falling off, because there is no way they are delivering 160,000+ vehicles in year one. This is interesting. ... Where's my popcorn?
No, but they could probably fill about 25% in a year. That comes to about 100 units per day, or one about every 14 & a half minutes.

Wracking my memory and I still am not sure how I luckily stumbled upon the Slate. Best I can remember a close friend was talking about getting a new car and mentioning hybrid and EV. Living off grid, as do, he was hesitant on a BEV. I basically was just researching for sake of our discussion and happened upon the Slate reveal. After watching all the videos etc, I closed out my night making my Reservation. It has been an exciting ride since. Friend did buy a new RAV4 PHEV to replace his Honda CRV. I gathered from discussion last night his wife is almost on board to add a Slate. Likely waiting for me to get mine.

My reservation was put in on the second day, but in the morning after release, less than 15 hours after Slate was announced. I don't remember where I first heard about it, I think it was the commercial for the Taxider-My-Family YouTube video. Then the Cat care commercial, then the exotic meats commercial, etc. Was this played on TV channels? I don't remember for sure. I did see all the info on April 24, but reserved the next morning.

That is crazy! I had no idea they started with something so progressive!! 😱

For me, I was sold on Slate while watching Sandy Munro the morning after the big reveal. He was wearing an official Slate jacket bearing the name “Teardown Titan.”

He had me at hello. *

I'm having a feeling that first slot orderers probably won't have a chance to drive them. They probably figure that people crazy enough to be the first to get one won't care about a test drive.
Those that would want a test drive would also be the cautious ones that would want to see how everything pans out first.
But that's just a theory.

Honestly, if I thought the event in Los Angeles tomorrow would be more than a chance to look at the outside of the truck and peek in the windows, I might make the drive. If I could at least sit in it for a few minutes, I think it would firm up my decision to commit to the $300 non-refundable deposit. That is the only event left on the events page, they may not post anymore until after the June announcement.
Ideally that announcement would include a massive expansion of events starting immediately allowing us some hands on time with trucks off of the line before the 30 days is up.

And we’ve got 30 days after June 24 to review our designs in the Slate maker and lock in the first delivery window. I’d like to know when the second wave is scheduled to begin. May not be as bad as you might think.
Your designs don't need to be decided until your delivery window gets close, unless your designs (now with prices) are the deciding factor for moving forward.

I think there will be a window of opportunity to play with maker with the prices and make commitment with a sufficient lead time for Slate, possibly mid 3rd quarter.

I think probably July - December will be time for first test drives. Then first orders arrive in (late) December.

Late 4th quarter doesn't mean late December. In fact due to the holidays I'd expect mid December at the latest. My reservation wasn't made until 4 days in, so it matters little to me, unless they just put the whole first week of reservations in the same batch.

For me, I don't think a test drive (even if readily available) would factor into my decision. I've driven a lot of new cars over the last four decades and only once was the first drive a dealbreaker (Lotus Elise). It's sometimes helped me select between two competing choices, but that won't be the case this time around. If the numbers work, buying sight-unseen won't really give me pause.

Exactly. Will the pre-orders be moved ahead of the $50 reservation holders?

Has anyone bailed out and gotten back their $50?
Well boys and girls, it's been fun,
but I bailed.
Got my $50 back in a day or two.
Best wishes for all of you.
