How much range loss do we think the roof rack will cause (in the pickup config)? Flow over the roof and down across the bed is critical for aerodynamics. I want a roof rack too, but if it's a 10% range hit I would reconsider leaving it on all the time.

Nobody will know until someone actually tests it with and without the roof rack.

also was just on the maker looking at the open air kit and noticed the suv/open air kit has cup holders in the back seat so its not just the 3 parts looks like it comes with side paneling as well, lol and also it seems i broke the maker or is this a little added storage XD

I’m tempted by the roof rack, but is the rear top panel of the topper still removable? I’m waiting to see.

Agreed! Slate has an impressive roof rack system. I like the fact that the rack on the pickup cab can be extended when the SUV kit is added. That was explained to us by the 'accessories guy' Jordan in the Rich Rebuilds video. He refers to the roof rack as an 'ecosystem.' Since the rack is modular, it uses common rails that can be modified to fit all versions.
Thanks for the reminder about that video! I did a search of the transcript on "rack" and found several sections where the roof rack system was discussed.

I'm glad they have it set up so you can bring your own too. I currently have Malone crossbars and kayak saddles. The crossbars need to be long enough to accomodate my kayaks. So I really can't wait for more specs to be released. Especially, the width of the roof and the width of the Slate crossbars. I'm sure they'll have at least the standard dynamic roof load, usually around 165 lbs. My stuff doesn't approach that, but I still like having specs.

And I'll be in the woods, with no internet. Oh well, I'm going to enjoy my vacation:) Good thing doing a pre-order a couple of days later won't affect my delivery window.
Yeah, I'm going to be at an outdoor meeting with a contractor at the zero hour. I'll be home a few hours later, so no sweat. I don't really want to use the phone, but I might use it to peek at the window. When home by the PC, I will check my window, then pull up this forum and spend the next few hours catching up. :)

Such self restraint - I’m impressed. But not enough to attempt myself.
