Cars painted with this Black 4.0 paint is mind bending.
I actually have bottles of the Culture Hustle Black 2.0 and 3.0. It's interesting stuff, but not durable at all. If you even touch it, finger print oils mess up the surface. Get it wet? Ruined. Wipe it with a cloth, ruined. You can't clear coat it or it loses the entire effect. It's a fun party trick, but wouldn't last more than a day, just enough time to get those silly influencer video shots.

To be fair, IIRC, he even says right in the video it was just a "party trick" because the paint can't be clear-coated and is incredibly fragile.

I would absolutely love to see them offer a "rust bucket wrap"

You could probably get that if you really want it. Slate will probably be selling printed wraps, mainly for fleets, that you can customize with whatever graphics you want. Just load in a rusty pattern like that and click order.

I sent a bunch of questions I have around the wraps (mainly because I'd like to use a film they don't offer) - if I get any responses with info I'll be sure to post up. My guess is they won't be saying much until release date. Given that they've dedicated a facility to supporting the "wraps" my expectations on how open and accessible things like cut vectors or templates will be are fairly low.
But the minute someone in the aftermarket gets hands on a kit they'll have templates, so who knows. I had really hoped Slate would truly embrace the "maker world" by providing CAD/Vectors/SVGs/whatever for those that really want to make their own stuff - but I've yet to see any of that being spoken to as a potential reality.

The DipYourCar guys are in my backyard. I've debated on pinging them to see if they'd want a crack at an early release Slate (assuming my res gets me one quickly), exchanging the PR for a greatly reduced cost (fairly sure they get well north of $2k to spray a car) custom job - but my guess is they won't really care..... it's just another truck.

Considering nothing for Slate U has been released, perhaps a bit premature to dis.
of course that would mean I read your comment in a negative manner, maybe it’s not.

Most wrap shops probably won't care about getting those files, they wrap all kinds of cars without them. Being that the pieces will come as flat sheets, it will be trivially easy for people to make those files once they have a kit, so I doubt Slate will try to keep things secret once they are shipping.
