Does the tailgate have a regular keyed lock, or do you have to get the electric lock.

Interesting question, the product page shows it being locked from the remote:

Slate Auto Pickup Truck Tailgate lock - regular key or electric lock? 1784921636111-8i

The text says it uses the same lock as the SUV kit, which is news to me:

Includes: The same tailgate lock kit included with the SUV kits, sold separately for those who want to lock their Slate Truck tailgate (paired best with a tonneau cover).
The image does not show a physical lock cylinder.

The brown truck from the Fort Worth event did have a physical lock cylinder on the older style latch:

But the yellow truck with the newer latch from the Crayola event did not:

If I had to guess, I'd wager it doesn't include a lock at all by default, that the $100 accessory is an electric lock, and that there will eventually be a physical lock available for less than $100.

Pretty sure you have to get the electric lock that unlocks with the doors. No key lock that I can see.

I prefer a keyed lock though I don't think it's offered. The electric lock is probably the only option. Power for the lock would come from where?

They already run power to that location for the third brake light (moved there in most recent builds) and the camera.

Whew, buddy. You’ve been missing out! It’s like a warm bidet the morning after taco night in Tijuana!

Ok, that’s exaggeration. If you have a nice tonneau and things you don’t want “eloping” in a parking lot, the electric lock can be nice when you have hands full to open/close tailgate.

Otherwise, key works manually just fine.

For comparison because we love these :) The Maverick is a key fob electronic lock for the tailgate. It doesn't really bother me because usually when all the doors are open is when you access the tailgate so it doesn't really take an extra action.

I kind of like the idea of it. I'm getting one of those tri fold tonneau covers and the locking tailgate would compliment my uses for the Slate nicely.

*EDIT* The electronic lock. I'm pretty sure the base tailgate will have a keyhole like the doors.
