I think I'll be a bit of both. For instance, since I know I'm only interested in the cargo variant (or SUV, if that's all that's available), I might have that done right away. From then on, it's all me for further maintenance and upgrades. Having said that, if they want to charge too much to bolt on the SUV top, I'll do it myself.

Tangential story, my first adult car was a pickup and I also ordered a bed liner. They want a few hundred dollars to install it but I refused. I said just throw it in the truck and I'll install it at home. It was a drop in bed liner. :giggle:

My 3D printer can't wait to start printing a new dashboard. I'll make my own entertainment system, will install comma.ai, will install 360 cameras and will train my very own backup autopilot.

I’ve never done a wrap, but if we are concerned people can’t or won’t do a good job, I’m afraid to think how they would botch a paint job. I suspect removing a bad vinyl will be far easier than removing a bad paint job.

Just like my current truck I do some basics, but if I think could grow into a multi day project I get a shop on it.

On the five-wrench difficulty scale, I'd do
- up to 🔧🔧🔧 for sure,
- probably 🔧🔧🔧🔧, and
- possibly 🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧

Lots. Just....lots.
I'm doing all of it. "Want it done right? Do it yourself" is my motto; my wife is sick of hearing it. Especially when she farms work out and it bites her in the ass. lol

I already wrap/unwrap. Its stupid easy. Like, REALLY easy, just tedious and very detail oriented. Like screen protectors on your phone, but bigger. And if I go paint I already checked with a buddy's shop and he said he can paint it, no problem. (Sometimes I got in and help them out, usually sandblasting, if they are too busy.) If I fab metal panels he does powder coat, too. So maybe I'll get to even do the paint part myself. I've painted airplanes; it cant be that different.

Drivetrain wise I already do all that stuff unless I feel lazy. And computer and high voltage stuff is how I make my living, so thats a no brainer.

I'm actually really looking forward to the DIY portion. If that wasn't there I'd already have moved on.

removal is as simple as stealing your wife's industrial hairdryer and pointing it at an edge. Its like peeling glue off your hand - kinda gross but sooooo satisfying.

Yup, but paint removal no where near that easy.

This is making me wonder what level of difficulty people are thinking things will be?
I have to figure most accessory installs will be quite easy.
Maybe the upgraded bumpers and such will need a few tools, and the SUV kits will probably be a lot easier with a helper, the wraps will take some time and patience for a first time installer.
I'm just wondering from those more experienced how many "wrenches" they think different stuff will be rated.
I plan on staying pretty basic, may add some stuff that may need a screwdriver, but mostly blank slate.

I'm going with the Blank Slate initially. But might get the SUV kit down the line. Probably well after it has been out and how well everything seems to hold up.

I think you want to break it down maybe into tools needed, how much effort it is, and how much time it takes. Cause the SUV kit ill bet is just a couple actual wrenches and easy, but 4x the trouble without a buddy, a tail light kit is probably a screw driver and 30 minutes, and a head unit (stereo) is one guy and a weeknight with a small tool kit (or more depending on how much 'stereo' you put it in/plan for). Some things need tools/facilities, some go better with help, and some are just tedious.

So say, wrenches, beers, and ...clocks?
