Got an email with blank subject and a link from slate with FAQ on the upcoming preorder window
https://www.slate.auto/en/how-to-preorder
This seems to be the first I'm hearing about preordering officially opening.

Text from the page is as follows

1. LOG INTO YOUR SLATE ACCOUNT.
Beginning June 24
You’ll see your assigned delivery window and a link to preorder. If you have an existing reservation, we’ll email you a reminder, too.
Need a reservation? Get one here.

2. LOCK IN YOUR DELIVERY WINDOW.
Within 30 days
A $300 non-refundable deposit (minus your $50 reservation fee, if you have a reservation) locks in your delivery timing.
  • You’ll have 30 days to place your deposit.
  • After 30 days, you can still preorder, but your delivery window will shift to later time slot.
  • The preorder deposit will be applied toward the final purchase price.

LATER: PERSONALIZE AND BUY.
Beginning Fall 2026
As your delivery window approaches, we’ll let you know when it’s time to:
  • Pick wraps and accessories.
  • Select financing and finalize a purchase agreement.
  • Choose how to take delivery.

I found three things interesting. (1) Notice they suggest there are various delivery options. (2) Notice they suggest there are financing options. (3) And the $300 non-refundable deposit is very modest.

I hope we see a thread on 24 June (we already have one for reservations) where people can describe what they ordered. It'll be fun to see what people are actually ordering.

Oh, and a bonus 4th item of interest, which makes sense. Slate seems to say "fish or cut bait". Meaning you have till 24 July to preorder, or you join us unwashed masses who don't have reservations.

Interesting. I'll be a bit disappointed if my day one reservation was a waste, because I'm not putting down $300 before I see and drive one. Slate has 8 weeks left to produce production intent trucks and get them in front of people so they can make final decisions.

"When will I know what the Slate Truck costs?
We’ll announce pricing on June 24, plus more exciting news. If you have saved designs in your Garage, you’ll also be able to see what they would cost with your selected accessories"

I think I lost my tesla deposit (1K) I guess it became a donation to tesla even if it was supposed to be refunded.

Im putting in my non refundable deposit. Even if I dont end up getting one because they suck or something, 300 to reserve a spot for mid next year, Im fine with that.

I got the same email 5 minutes ago. I’m willing to put down the $250.

According to their news article there’s a public event at Warsaw per the June 22 announcement. Perhaps we’ll get some more insight into delivery dates.

So just to confirm, those of us with $50 paid reservations only need to outlay an additional $250 to secure a preorder. And the entire $300 now becomes non refundable.

And we’ve got 30 days after June 24 to review our designs in the Slate maker and lock in the first delivery window. I’d like to know when the second wave is scheduled to begin. May not be as bad as you might think.

Was the Slate site nuked from orbit? All the designs in my garage are gone....

EDIT - it seems the builder is having an existential crisis at the moment. Doing all kinds of wonky things (mostly resetting itself) as I try to use it...

Not gonna happen, it's a big country. Looks like we'll have to buy one sight unseen and rely on internet influencer videos (ugh!).

Just chatted with Kathy G at SLATE asking about How significant our early reservations were going to affect our delivery date? She alluded that the delivery would be in a first come first basis. (Will see)

She also said they would be announcing opportunities for us to see and test drive the truck before the order date. I pointed out to her that I was not in Cali or TX needed someplace I could go fairly easily. Nashville or Louisville would be okay.
