The classic car radio kits seem to offer what I'd like to see in a slate. Knobs, handsfree calling, bluetooth music, and FM radio.

If I can drive and listen handsfree, eyes off the dash, then I think I'm happy.

Something like this, or a single-din version would work. Wire it to some door (or dash) speakers, microphone, antenna.

$428 seems a little steep for that.

"Exclusive RetroSound Radio App support" is the kind of thing I'd avoid, regardless of price.

I like the form factor and styling. It should be closer to $40 than $400, though.
Hmm. Only 25 watts RMS per channel at this price? Not what I was expecting. And how about including a retro CD player that us older folks could resurrect our old compact disc collection?

I've had a RetroSound in my 1974 VW Karmann Ghia since 2011 and it has always worked flawlessly. Paid $230 for a basic radio back then, so this price doesn't shock me at all.

I think a universal single din mount, bolted to the bottom/under the HVAC controls, and a $40 head unit will be wildly popular, especially once a single and double din mount are made to bolt in from someone. Add in some speaker pods or even if theres a way to use the OEM speaker pods it is realistically very easy, digital antenna stuck the the windshield, just needs a power wire and your done

You've reminded me of all the 8-track players I used to mount under the dash in my early cars. That would be a fun add.
